What we offer on a school trip


Hidden beneath the street of Westminster, Churchill War Rooms is a must-see historical site.
The site comprises a biographical museum for students to explore the life of Winston Churchill and a secret underground complex that housed a British underground command centre during the course of the Second World War.
A self-guided visit to Churchill War Rooms is suitable for ages 7+ (Key Stage 2 above) and could support many areas of study including the Second World War, British government, politics, and Winston Churchill.

Churchill War Rooms offer a truly immersive experience for students to learn about the Second World War. Come and walk down the top-secret corridors of the Cabinet War Rooms and glimpse what life would have been like during the tense days and nights of the War.

What is typically included on your school trips


School trips, youth and adult groups can discover the unique, top-secret corridors of Churchill War.
Rooms with a self-guided visit.
A self-guided visit to Churchill War Rooms is suitable for ages 7+ and may support various areas of study:
– The Second World War
– Winston Churchill
– British Government
– Politics
When you book a self-guided school visit your group will be given audio guides and you can choose between a variety of languages. Please allow at least 45 minutes to explore the rooms and a further 45minuets to view the Churchill Museums.
Please note: There are no lunchroom facilities available at Churchill War Rooms.
Adults leaders must stay with their students at all times while onsite.

Group Sizes


Please note children must be supervised at all times with at least one adult for every ten children.
Large groups of more than 35 people may have to be divided.

Self-guided visits for schools include audio guides in various languages.
Our website offers a variety of online resources for KS2 – KS3, including gallery guides, interactive classroom resources and continuing professional development materials for teachers. All of these are free, and you can download them anytime.

You are welcome to take photos and video for personal, non-commercial use. Please respect the privacy of other Museum visitors, avoid the use of flash and tripods, and taking photos or filming people without permission. Please observe signage indicating where photography and filming is not permitted.

Pricing


Pre-school children under 5 can visit the Churchill War Rooms for free. School children between the age of 5 – 15 will cost £12.25 per person. Group leaders may receive a free ticket for every 10 children. Carers may receive free tickets based on their SEND group radios. Students aged between 16 – 18 will cost £22.05 per person. Any additional adults will cost £24.50 per person.
All schools (UK and overseas) must book in advance. To start the booking process, please fill out the school visit form. You will be contacted within ten working days with a response to your booking request. Please avoid making travel arrangements until you have received a confirmation email with your Visitor Confirmation Letter attached.

Clothing Requirements


There is not specific clothing require for a visit with us, however, we would advise your students to come in their usually school attire or wear a lanyard. We do not have a bag room or lunchroom on site. Please leave the students’ bag and lunch at school or on the coach.
First Aid


You will receive a short safety briefing at the start of your visit if you have booked with our team. This will provide any necessary information you may require. Please feel free to ask for any additional information needed. We would recommend schoolteachers and group leaders bring their school trip first aid kit with them as they tour around the museum.
Our front of house Security Team can assist you on your visit. Please find the nearest member of staff and they will be able to assist you if an incident should occur.
Available Facilities


- Step-free access is available from our front entrance via Horse Guards Road by St. James
Park. - Accessible toilets are available at the basement level.
- We have a limited number of manual wheelchairs are available for loan, free of charge. If you think you may need one during your visit, please let our booking team know.
