What are our school workshops like
Challenge Academy is a specialist in delivering outdoor adventure activities for all ages and abilities. We believe that nothing inspires and engages pupils more than a session outside the classroom.
We provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and develop a range of life skills whilst having fun in the great outdoors. We have a range of programmes to suit all budgets, but we also work closely with schools to develop tailored programmes to meet their specific needs and desired outcomes.
Our Adventure Hub is based in Baggeridge Country Park near Sedgley and is the home to our obstacle course, nets adventure park and high ropes facility.
If you are restricted by transport and budget then Challenge Academy staff can bring the adventure to you and deliver a day of challenge, problem solving and team building.
We also have a range of outdoor learning resources including our ‘Mobile Big Rig’ – portable obstacle equipment and ‘Bags of Character’ – over 50 challenges, which can both be purchased with approved training.
Areas Visited
We will visit East and West Midlands between Monday and Friday throughout the year.
Accreditation and Awards
We hold the LOTC Quality Badge.
We have always ensured that our delivery and qualifications are of the highest standard, appropriate and safe for young people. Staff at Challenge Academy undergo constant training and standardisation to ensure that every participant’s experience is positive and safe.
- Institute for Outdoor Learning – Accredited Practitioners for IOL.
- Member of the British Activity Provider Association (BAPA).
- AIM Awards – Enhanced Quality Mark – OFQUAL approved awarding organisation.
- All staff hold a current DBS and are fully trained to deliver engaging and safe opportunities for learning.
What is typically included on our school trips
When transport costs are restricted, then we can come to you to kick-start your outdoor adventure. Our special programme of activities will help fulfil your National Curriculum requirement for ‘taking part in outdoor and adventure activity challenges’ both individually and within a team. We create a learning and development environment that facilitates the development of resilience, physical, social and emotional skills.
You’ll be surprised to see how much we are able to bring. If you have the space, we are able to set up a day to remember where the focus is on fun, teamwork and challenge. Let us know your focus in advance and we will make sure that we design and deliver a programme perfect for your needs.
Sessions are designed based on the age of the pupils or we work with you to design your programme to best fit your desired outcomes. Programmes can be delivered over 1 session, a full day or a progressive programmes over a number of days/sessions.
