Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Activity Centre Day Visits

We are an Outdoor Centre based in The New Forest National Park, with an extensive range of adventure and field study-based activities available, all linked to the National Curriculum, we can make the perfect day for your students to ensure you get the most out of your visit. Our highly trained and experienced team are ready for challenging adventures climbing our tower, to problem-solving and outdoor survival, we can help you find the choices to meet your group’s needs and learning outcomes, with our bespoke programmes tailored to your needs.

We are open all year round for spring, autumn, summer and winter day visits with a pricing structure that varies to suit your budget.

Being accessible to all is important to us, and that is why we’re a fully accessible outdoor centre, with the ability to adapt activities. Hoists for water and height activities are available – so outdoor learning can be enjoyed be all.

The school market is our core market and as a Learning Outside the Classroom provider, everything we do looks at how we can contribute to a young person’s physical, personal and social development.

Whilst we tailor each visit to individual needs and required learning outcomes, all sessions are linked to the National Curriculum and support continued learning and development back in the classroom. Whether your group is here for one session, a day or a full week residential, we will create a bespoke programme for you to ensure you get the most out of your visit. Yes, we would encourage guests to record their experiences but would ask that any pictures, video or audio be taken of their own group or the site.

We do have an education officer however all initial enquiries should go through our Customer Services Team.

We can be flexible and work with teachers to their budgets and desired outcomes, making the visit completely bespoke to their student’s needs and outcomes. This allows us to offer affordable and bespoke rates on day visits throughout the year. Please contact our Customer Experience team for more information.

All of our activity staff and a large proportion of our office-based staff are first-aid qualified so there will always be someone on-site to deal with any first-aid incidents. We also have an on-call person available at any time throughout your stay. Should you wish to take part in any self-led activities or will be doing any off-site visits or trips, we would advise that you bring a first-aid qualified leader with you.

Schools can have access to our floodlit sports courts for tennis and basketball as well as a grass football pitch. We also have a campfire site for use in the evenings and an on-site shop for snacks and small souvenirs and gifts. There are facilities to eat a packed lunch and a marquee is available for additional socializing space.

Avon Tyrrell is a fully accessible site with adapted facilities and specialised equipment, to ensure all guests have the same opportunities. The main house has wide access doors, wheelchair ramps and a lift and we have additional equipment including shower trolleys and hoists.

An accessible pathway leads down to the lake where our Boathouse holds a disabled wet room and toilet facility. Hoists can be fitted at the lake and extra harnessing equipment is available for the at height activities.

Having run several weekends specifically for the disability community, we have the knowledge and expertise to work with a variety of disabilities and give everyone the same opportunities to experience, learn and develop.

The Centre is open all year round.
