What we offer on a school trip
Beechwood Court is set in 9 acres of beautiful woodland on the North Wales coast. The accommodation is just a 15 minute walk from the historic medieval walled town of Conwy. The castle its self overlooks the important crossing for the Conwy river. It is a really fantastic location just on the edge of town, but within easy walking distance for history walks and that all important visit to the ice cream shop! This is a perfect location for your activity school trip to The Snowdonia National Park and North Wales coast.
We work closely with Beechwood Court to provide an extremely professional outdoor activity and spiritual experience. Outdoor activities at Beechwood Court are largely mountain, lake and river based however we can offer our full range of activities from here, including the ever popular coasteering, please see our sample programmes for your options. We offer 1 – 5 day activity programmes that are designed individually to meet your needs.
Beechwood Court is a classical, historic building with all the modern fitting, furnishings and resources you will need. It is well maintained to a very high standard throughout. There is access to a quiet room for pupils who just want to enjoy some time to themselves. There are 60 beds with a maximum of 70 places with the use of Z-beds. The accommodation is set over three floors, the building itself can be sectioned off and secured if there are two or more schools in at a time. Outside is a spacious grass area and mature woodland. All meals are catered for in the central kitchen by professional cooks. All dietary needs can be catered for. There are 3 relaxing lounges for communal games, socialisation and meetings. Outside there is plenty of space to run off any excess energy!
All activities are led by National Governing Body qualified instructors. Off-site activities we offer are: Gorge walking, Coasteering, Body boarding, Sit on kayaking, Climbing and abseiling, Coastal treks, Mountaineering, Beach craft, Mountain biking, Orienteering and Raft building. On site there is: Bush Craft, Archery, and BMX Biking. Not far from the accommodation is a pleasant beach, ideal for self-led activities. All activities are the same cost so are interchangeable with other activities from our list. There are also numerous historical and places of interest close by for teachers to run self-led activities in the evenings.
For accommodation and catering there is one free teacher place for every 10 pupils. Teachers do not pay for any activities. Activity programmes are designed individually to meet your pupils needs, the level of activity can be delivered to meet all skill levels and age group. Curriculum activities that we can cover from this location cover: Geology, Geography, History, Environmental studies and of course Physical education. For schools on longer or repeat visits National Governing Body awards are possible. Pre-visit site inspections are welcome so please call us to arrange one that suits you.
