What we offer on a school trip
NOEC (Nantyr Outdoor Education Centre) is tucked away in the Ceiriog valley in a beautiful, secluded location ideal for those groups that wish to do their own thing. The entire grounds are fenced and gated which provides a safe and secure environment for all.
NOEC offers a range of facilities for both residential and day visits. A fully equipped kitchen to cater for large groups with a dining room to seat 20 guests.
In our Library you will find fictional and factual books, but also numerous board games and a large selection of Vinyl records that can be used on the Bluetooth record player.
The sleeping accommodation is divided into 4 rooms, two rooms sleeping two in bunk-beds and two dorms each with 4 bunk-beds sleeping 8 people, providing in total enough sleeping accommodation for 20 people.
There is also the option for a further 20 guests to camp in our camping areas with the use of our new Toilet/Shower block. Attached to the toilet block is the large Drying-room for those that need to dry wet clothing and specialist equipment.
The cozy but functional lounge has two large corner sofas with pull-out additional bedding if needed. Several bean-bags and additional seating.

All our external seating areas have lighting for those relaxing evenings.

There is ample parking for 5 vehicles in the top car-park and space for a further 3 vehicles in the lower car-park.
What makes us a great choice for education?
As the owners of NOEC we are passionate about what we do with over 40 years of experience in the Outdoor Education sector. NOEC is a the ideal place offering a picturesque, secluded and safe accommodation for small groups and one form entry schools. We offer both self-catering accommodation as well as bespoke residential courses.
Since we purchased the Outdoor Education centre from Wrexham Council in 2017 we have invested a lot of time and money into refurbishing the centre. With many new additions such as the new brick built BBQ and Pizza Oven, updated Toilet/Shower block for those camping and also our new large Fire-Circle at the top of the hill with great views over the centre and the Ceiriog valley.
What is typically included on our school trips?
High ropes, Low ropes, Camping, Fire pit, BBQ/Pizza oven, Archery, Fencing, Multi sports/SEN sports, Orienteering, Bush craft skills, Team building/Problem solving, Young leaders courses, Ideal for DofE.
Photography, Filming & Audio Restrictions
We encourage all guests to take photos and film footage as we want all our guest to capture their great memories at NOEC.
Risk Assessment Details
Provide Risk Assessments, Inspection visit’s, Resource Packs, organizations can come and prepare own risk assessment.
The centre is fully compliant with all health and Safety legislation. There is both an Intruder alarm as well as a Fire Alarm system with Fire doors fitted, up to date serviced Fire extinguishers and Safety signage.
Pricing Information
Our pricing structure is flexible and all bookings are done on a sole occupancy basis with a minimum of two night bookings. As an example for a group of 20 guests on the basis of £300 per night this works out at a cost of £15pppn. There is also the use of the camping areas which are free of charge, however there is a charge for the use of the new Shower/Toilet block.

Location Information
You will find the centre perched on the side of the Nantyr hills tucked deep in the Ceiriog Valley in North Wales. The centre sits about 2.5 miles west of the sleepy little village of Glyn Ceiriog and about 6 miles south west of Llangollen.
The area has loads to offer for those seeking everything from high adrenaline sports such as white-water rafting/canoeing, mountain biking, motor-cross and rock climbing to more tranquil pastimes such as horse riding, fishing and hill walking to mention a few.
The local village of Llangollen offers a bit of everything with it’s scenic steam railway, horse-drawn canal boats, white-water activities and numerous shops, cafes, bars
and restaurants as well as a brand new shopping centre for all your grocery needs.
Slightly further a field is Snowdonia National park (30miles to the west) with some of the most stunning, breathtaking scenery to be had anywhere in the UK with Mount Snowdon at it’s heart. Within the National park you will also find Zipworld with Europe’s longest Zip slide along with numerous other wild attractions.
Liverpool and Birmingham sit within easy reach to the east and for family fun, Alton Towers Theme Park is within a 2 hours drive.
