What we offer on a school trip
Woodlands Adventure & Outdoor Learning is owned by the Birmingham Boys & Girls Union, who are one of the oldest children’s charities in Birmingham, founded in 1906. (Charity No: 1120499).
We offer residential visits for up to 64 young people and 6 leaders, camping visits, full day and half day visits to all groups from all backgrounds. Our Instructors are experienced in instructing activities for groups of young people with special educational needs and disabilities ensuring that our facilities are open to everyone to experience and enjoy.
Woodland Adventure’s staff team are experienced, fully qualified, first aid trained and hold an enhanced DBS. Their training is regularly updated and assessments are carried out on a regular basis both in house and by independent technical advisors and assessors.
At woodlands adventure every member of our team loves the outdoors and takes pride in making every young person’s experience the best it can be, encouraging resilience, team bonding, overcoming challenges, confidence and personal development ensuring they have a positive learning experience as well as having fun.

Activities:
Assault Course (with or without mud run), Zip line, Archery, Canoeing, Kayaking, Raft Building, Vines & Bridges, Climbing, Abseiling, Tomahawk Throwing, Urban Golf, Circus Skills, Nature Days, Mini Beasts, Pond Dipping, Bush Craft, Shelter Building, Team Building, geocaching & orienteering.
Aged 10 and above: (High Ropes classed as 2 activities 2.5 hours in duration)
All of our visits can be tailor made to specifically cover any topic, theme or curriculum specification.
Safety and Security:
Every activity that we offer at Woodlands Adventure is fully instructed by qualified experienced activity instructors and they are all based on our 36-acre site. Safety equipment is provided and fitted by the instructional staff. Daily inspections of the activities and equipment are carried out in house and by independent technical advisors in accordance with H & S and governing body regulations.
Duty Instructors reside on site at all times for emergencies during all residential and canvas visits.
A CCTV system operates 24 hours covering the entrance, reception and rear car park.
Our team members hold an enhanced DBS, first aid qualification and a child protection qualification.
Risk assessments are provided for the buildings, site and activities with every booking along with a copy of our public liability insurance. We also welcome pre-visits by appointment, for leaders to carry out their own risk assessments and discuss their visits in detail.

What is typically included on our school trips?
We tailor make every visit to suit your groups particular needs or requirements. The activities are not set packages and every activity is chosen by the organiser making the booking.
Curriculum topics catered for but not limited to, include:
PE, Science, Geography, leisure & tourism, Environmental Studies, Mathematics, History, PSHE, STEM.
Outdoor Education, Nature & Wildlife, Water Sports, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, Residential School Trips, Camping, Climbing, Outdoor Pursuits, Adventure, Challenge, Resilience. Confidence & Team building.
Photography, Filming & Audio Restrictions
As long as the teachers and leaders have no objections, photographs may be taken of their own group during their visit.
Risk Assessment Details
We provide risk assessments and a copy of our public liability insurance with every booking. Further information can be found on our website which also has lots of downloadable documents for printing off.

We can hold a date for 7 days on reserve.
To book, we would require you to complete a booking form which can be downloaded from our website: www.woodlandsadventure.co.uk. Go to the menu tab, choose the tab for downloads, the booking form is listed in the yellow box on the right-hand side of the page. Print it, scan it and email it to the email address above. We will then email you a deposit invoice for 50% or a full balance invoice if the booking is made 8 weeks or less from the visit date, accompanied with risk assessments and a copy of our public liability insurance.
Pricing Information
Residential visits Include a camp fire, souvenir shop, circus skills and frisbee golf plus:
Overnight stay with 4 fully instructed activities from £ 50.00 per person.
Weekend or half week stay with 6 fully instructed activities from £ 75.00 per person.
Full week stay with 12 fully instructed activities from £ 131.00 per person.
No hidden charges. Every activity is fully instructed by our team. (Minimum number of guests is 30, maximum 60 plus 6 free leaders places).
Camping Includes a camp fire, souvenir shop, circus skills and frisbee golf plus:
Overnight stay with 4 fully instructed activities: from £ 40.00 per person.
Half week or weekend stay with 4 fully instructed activities from £ 48.00 per person.
Half week or Weekend stay with 6 fully instructed activities from £ 68.00 per person.
No hidden charges. Every activity is fully instructed by our team. (Minimum number of guests is 12. Leaders: 1 free place per 10 children camping, plus 1 cook and 1 first aider place. Additional leaders are priced at £ 10.00 per person, per night).
We also have 12 x 2 person tents to hire at an additional cost of £10.00 per tent, per night.
Half Day visits include 2 fully instructed activities of your choice. 10am start until 12.30 or 2pm start until 4.30pm from £24.00 per person for a minimum group of 12 people.
Full Day visits include 4 fully instructed activities of your choice, starting at 10am until 4.30pm with one-hour lunch break. This time can be adjusted by reducing the lunch to half an hour if you need to be on the coach earlier. Prices from £27.00 per person.

Clothing Requirements
Day visitors:
Sunscreen and any medication required.
Hat, Hoody, water proof jacket.
Food and soft drinks.
Towels and toiletries.
Spare set of clothing and footwear, including underwear for return journey.
Bag to put dirty or wet clothes in as they may get wet or muddy.
On the day wear loose jogging bottoms, not jeans as they are restrictive.
T shirt and hoody.
Old trainers.
Loose long hair requires tying up so that it does not get caught in ropes or harnesses etc.
Please note if clothes get muddy they may not wash clean afterwards so please do not wear expensive clothing or jewellery.
Please dress for the weather.

First Aid Information
Our staff team are first aid trained, have radios with them on the activities, access to a telephone in the case of an ambulance being required and there are many first aid kit stations around our 36 acres site. Every activity station has quick access to medical supplies.
For residential and camping visits, we do suggest that they bring a first aid trained leader and a first aid kit with them for use during their stay.
We always have a Duty Instructor on site at all times during residential and camping visits for added piece of mind.

Our activities are available for everyone encouraging children with physical disabilities, special educational needs and or complex needs to join in and get the most out of every activity. Disability hoists are available for children with physical disabilities allowing them to enjoy the same experiences as some more abled children and we have very experienced staff team.
Woodlands Adventure & Outdoor Learning is equipped with several disabled wet rooms with easy wheel chair access.

We are open every day of the year for activities, residential and camping stays.

Other Information
A 50% deposit is required to secure the dates, the balance for the visit will be required to be paid in full 8 weeks before your arrival date.

Location Information
Woodlands Adventure & Outdoor Learning is located in the West Midlands, 20 minutes from Birmingham on the outskirts of Walsall. We benefit from having 36 acres of natural woodlands and we offer fantastic facilities and activities to everyone.
Room Sizes and Facilities
Residential stays:
Self-catering, fully equipped kitchen and main hall equipped with a projector and games for the evening. Young people’s shower and toilet facilities, leaders shower and toilet, wet room facilities for groups with disabilities and a laundry equipped with washing machine, dryer and a washing line, located outside the building.
Dormitories, 32 beds in each side, accommodating a total of 64 young people, first aid room with 2 beds and 4 rooms, 2 with singles and 2 with twin beds accommodating 6 leaders.
Bottom fitted sheets are provided on arrival by our hygiene operatives who come in 3 times per week to ensure everything is clean prior to your arrival and after your departure for the next group.
Evenings: Sports hall, camp fire, BBQ area, picnic area, woodlands walk, night line, mushroom trail or just relax or do one of your own activities.
Overnight, arrive 9am to depart 11.30 the next day, choosing 4 fully instructed activities.
Half weeks Monday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Friday, arrive at 1pm to depart for 11.30, choose 6 fully instructed activities.
Full Weeks Monday to Friday, arrive at 1pm to depart at 11.30, choosing 12 activities
Weekend residential, Friday to Sunday, arrive at 1pm to depart at 5pm, choosing 6 activities
Weekend camping, Friday to Sunday, arrive at 5pm to depart at 1pm, choosing 4 or 6 activities

Camping:
We have a dedicated camping field, equipped with picnic benches under a stretch tent, a new toilet and showering facility and a cabin equipped with a fridge freezer, microwave and kettle.
Please supply your own tents and camping equipment. Disposable BBQ's may be used on slabbed areas. Please note that during extremely dry weather conditions, alter fires will not be permitted.
No electric, please supply your own tents and camping equipment.
