The impressive Pioneer Centre takes facilities for school residentials in the UK to a new level. Specially designed, purpose built and extended, no effort has been spared to provide an excellent standard of Canadian themed accommodation for up to 300 people all under one roof with imaginative adventure activities on site.

Pioneer Centre’s 25 acre grassland site is surrounded by trees with small areas of woodland at one end, space for basketball, football, volleyball and 19 full-on adrenaline adventure activities, such as climbing and abseiling, indoor caving and high ropes courses. The centre also has a wide selection of activities tailored to guests with disabilities.

With 78 en-suite bedrooms across 7 accommodation wings it allows a number of smaller groups to remain separate, secure and individually cared for. It is also possible to block book a number of adjacent lodges to cater for groups of all sizes and boy/girl mixes.

What size groups do they cater for?


The Centre caters for groups of varying sizes from small groups of 12 to large groups of 310. Each instructed activity is designed for 12 group members.

Pioneer Centre is beautifully surrounded by rolling green Shropshire countryside on the edge of the ancient Wyre Forest, welcoming groups from 12 to 300 people.

Overlooked by Clee Hill the Centre is less than an hour’s drive south-west of Birmingham, within easy reach of the nation’s motorway network, close enough to be accessible and yet far enough away to provide a new adventure.

Is there anything you offer specifically for educational visits?

Pioneer Centre provides a range of school adventure and activity residential packages.

We tailor all of our programmes towards the needs of the group, building in elements of the curriculum whenever possible.

We also offer the ‘Explore’ package aimed at Transition residential for Key Stage 2/3 including PSHE-RE-PE.

Whatever your aims, we can tailor our approach and review sessions to better help you achieve your school’s learning objectives.

Can you provide information regarding room sizes and room facilities?

All bedrooms are en-suite, with single or bunk beds. Bedrooms sizes range to suite 2 to 6 guests per room. Each accommodation lodge has its own private lounge and kitchenette, complete with kettle, microwave and refrigerator.


Are visitors allowed to take photos, video or audio, if appropriate?

Visitors are allowed to take photos and video footage but this needs to be in line with our own company policy when other groups are on site.

What is the cost of the accommodation?

Our seasonal prices for full board accommodation start from £48.34 (+VAT) per person for 2 nights and all inclusive schools activity programmes start from £69.00 (+VAT) per person. Free places are available - schools and colleges receive one free place for every ten paying places.

• 3 large meeting venues seating 300, 200 and 100 theatre style

• 9 lounges / break-out rooms seating 10 to 40

• Free WiFi internet access throughout most of the centre

• Portable speech PA system available plus flip charts, TV’s, DVD players and video projector

• An on site shop selling memorabilia, and confectioneries

• A large dinning room that enables Your own dedicated tables at each meal ensuring your group

• A large open field with five-aside football and a basketball pitch

Do you have first aid on site or will the group need to bring a qualified first aider?

All of our instructional staff are first aid qualified as well as the majority of the rest of the Centre team. We ask that schools bring someone with them who is First aid qualified aswell whenever possible.

Are there disabled facilities?

Most of our 7 lodges have 2 or more wet-room style en-suite shower rooms for guests with disability and access needs. The centre also has many facilities and aides available. These facilities include within the accommodation: 2 rooms with fixed ceiling hoists, a portable hoist, 4 cot sides, 2 profiling beds, shower chairs and commodes and numerous fixed shower aids and pull cords. We also have 2 public full access toilets, and 2 wet rooms for use whilst away from accommodation if necessary.

We have multiple activities around our fully accessable site, including our purpose build Wheelchair abseil tower, adapted climbing and Archery. Our staff are trained to learn the needs of our clients and adapt the session appropriately. Please contact us with any enquiries and we will do our up most to accommodate everyone.

At Pioneer Centre we are passionate about providing pupils with opportunities to shine and then, with all they have learned about themselves and their peers, step boldly into everything the future has to offer.

We believe that young people can learn to ‘overcome’ and as their confidence grows, so they will develop resources within that can be called upon back in the classroom and in times of challenge. Through our instructed adventure activities, your pupils will push through their perceived personal limits and develop empathy for those different to themselves, so learning the value of team.
