York Racecourse Centre is currently the only four star rated group hostel in York, an accolade confirmed by Visit England following their recent assessment.

Specialising in quality, affordable group accommodation we have over twenty years’ experience of hosting school and student tours from the UK and overseas. Our experience of working with such a wide variety of groups has taught us how to best meet you and your student’s needs, with schools returning to visit us year on year.
Our guest’s safety and security is of paramount importance and a duty manager is based on site and available 24 hours a day. All relevant staff are subject to the appropriate CRB processes.

We are able to provide free and ample coach and car parking, with your coach able to drop you right on the doorstep. For some guests an attraction will be secure cycle storage, for others free Wi-Fi access will be the key factor.

We have a range of board options available, from full board to bed and breakfast, packed lunches. We can cater for all needs, tastes and special dietary requests with our locally sourced produce, prepared by our resident chef.

What group sizes do you cater for?
We cater for groups of all sizes. Our main building can offer rooms for up to 84 guests with an additional 21 bedrooms available in our annex building.

Please give information regarding room sizes and room facilities?
Our bedrooms have recently been refurbished and can be configured as twins or quads, with singles available in our annex.

The bedrooms in the main centre all benefit from ensuite toilet and hand basin, with modern shower blocks easily accessible. 21 bedrooms here boast three single beds with purpose built bunks converting each room to a capacity of four.

Rooms in the annex have private wash basins with newly refurbished shower and toilet blocks available to be split between male and female pupils and staff.

Our common room is also available to guests with a large digital television, ideal for daytime gatherings or pre-trip meetings. With a capacity of 60 persons our dining room is also available to larger groups requiring a space for recreational activities.

What is the cost of the accommodation?
From £33.00 for a bed and breakfast package. Rates are inclusive of VAT at 20% and are charged per person per night. Accompanying adults pay the same rate as children and rates are based on four children or two adults occupying a room.

What is your process for booking pre arranged risk assessments?
We have a risk assessment pack which is available to all teachers and can be emailed on request. Each group will be given a fire talk on arrival by a relevant staff member. Fire alarm testing occurs every Monday morning and all staff are subject to appropriate fire training.

• Access to a spacious Common Room with a large digital television, ideal for daytime workshops or an evening watching a DVD on the comfy furniture.
• Access to the Knavesmire playing field which is ideal for sports and games.

What are your disabled facilities?
We have facilities suitable for disabled guests. On the ground floor of the main building there is a disabled toilet with the ground floor main building bedrooms and dining room all wheelchair accessible.

What are your opening days and hours?
We are open 24 hours a day year round.
