Description

Calvert Trust Exmoor provides year round challenging activity breaks for people with physical, learning, behavioural and sensory disabilities, together with their
friends, classmates, teachers and carers.

Located in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the edge of Exmoor National
Park and a short distance from the North Devon Coast our beautiful Victorian model farm conversion is at the heart of our award winning accessible centre.

The majority of our guests choose to enjoy our delicious home cooked food, which is freshly prepared on site daily. Self catering is also an option, or ‘semi-self-catered’ for our transitional courses.

In the evening you can relax in our hydrotherapy pool, Jacuzzi or sensory room, enjoy beautiful views from the Acland room veranda, or participate in fantastic evening entertainments, all at no extra cost.

The centre is manned 24/7. Reception is open 7 days a week 9am – 5pm, with extended hours until 8pm on our check in days (Mondays and Fridays). After 5pm there is duty instructor in the centre and available until reception re-opens the next morning.

The main building (Which contains our accommodation) is a controlled environment with alarmed exits; between 23:00 and 07:30 the centre is locked.

Do you have any testimonials from previous customers who have visited your Accommodation?

“Pupil's social skills and relationships with other pupils and staff have been developed in a way that would not have occurred in a school setting.  Many students overcame difficulties quickly in this environment that usually would have caused distress. We had an amazing sense of achievement without any limitations; pupils challenging themselves.  All the instructors were brilliant, they made a real effort to get to know and help pupils. The kitchen staff were the most accommodating that we have ever experienced on a trip away, they made the day so much easier.  Thank you so much, you were fabulous.” C. Sourlis, Ysgol Erw’r Delyn.

“Students were all able to access a range of activities to place them outside of their comfort zone.  I was blown away by all staff at Calvert Trust Exmoor, everyone was helpful and nothing ever felt too much trouble.  The whole group felt like they were in a 'home from home'. The Instructors were always communicating with the students and offered the whole group reassurance when needed.  Our visit would not have been the same without their input. As a gluten free vegetarian I was concerned the menu wouldn't cater for me, the catering staff went more than out of their way to cater for me, I have never eaten so well.  What a dedicated, knowledgeable, wonderful bunch of staff!" Elmwood and Penrose School

“Our aims were most definitely met.  We were fully supported from the moment we arrived; activities were suited to the needs of our children who have a range of special educational needs. The staff were a fantastic help with the children, very patient, had appropriate resources to support children, kept them occupied. All of our experiences were special to us; the staff enjoyed their stay as much as the children.” Castle Wood School
