A safe and welcoming centre set on the Blackwater Estuary, Essex Outdoors Mersea boasts amazing views and a wide range of facilities and activities to suit all school groups.

Our Finnish timber residential building offers 48 beds arranged in seven rooms including two staff en-suites, a self-catering kitchen (catered option also available), a dining/social area, a projector with screen, and two flat-screen televisions.

Providing accommodation for up to 450 guests, this includes log cabins and several new patrol tents.

What is the cost of the accommodation?
Costs for each visit will vary dependent on the package of activities, accommodation and catering options chosen. Single activities start at £8 per head for a group of 10 young people, full activity days start at £32 per head, and residential visits start at £230 for a 4 night stay. We offer 1 free leader place for each 10 young people participating.

What is your process for booking pre arranged risk assessments?
We can supply any necessary risk assessments for our sites and activities as part of the visit planning process with us. If you are an Essex school or youth organisation subscribing to our Educational Visits service, this will be taken care of as part of your submission for the visit.

Do you have first aid on site or will the group need to bring a qualified first aider?
All of our instructional team hold first aid qualifications and have been trained to high standards relevant to both pediatric and outdoor scenarios. There is always a duty first-aider with an equipped first aid room available when groups are on site.

What are your disabled facilities?
Our Mersea centre is accessible to wheelchair users and includes specialist equipment, ramps, lifts and hoists where required. We can accommodate users with a variety of special needs on many of our activities and are happy to discuss any specific requirements your group may have, prior to arrival with us.

What are your opening days and hours?
Essex Outdoors Mersea is open 7 days a week all year round.
