Calvert Trust Exmoor provides year round challenging activity breaks for people with physical, learning, behavioural and sensory disabilities, together with their friends, classmates, teachers and carers.

Located in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the edge of Exmoor National Park and a short distance from the North Devon Coast our beautiful Victorian model farm conversion is at the heart of our award winning accessible centre.

Our residential multi activity breaks are delivered by our specially trained, highly experienced and well qualified team of instructors. Structured programmes of exciting activities are developed to suit your needs. We have exclusive use of the reservoir for sailing, kayaking and canoeing, and easy access to the forest activity trails. With all activities on one site more of your time can be spent enjoying what the centre has to offer.

Our comfortable accommodation is set around a secure and pretty courtyard, and comprises of en-suite single, twin and triple bedded rooms and apartments.

The majority of our guests choose to enjoy our delicious home cooked food, which is freshly prepared on site daily. Self catering is also an option, or ‘semi-self-catered’ for our transitional courses.

In the evening you can relax in our hydrotherapy pool, Jacuzzi or sensory room, enjoy beautiful views from the Acland room veranda, or participate in fantastic evening entertainments, all at no extra cost.

What does a typical school trip or educational visit include?

Our activities link to various sections of the curriculum for all key stages, and we are happy to work with you to tailor our activities to your specific curriculum needs or to a particular topic. There is a lot of useful information available to download from the schools pages of our website.

Can you take photos, video or audio? Are there any copyright restrictions?

Children can take photos /video /audio of any of our site, staff, or the group they have come with. The only restriction is that they should not film or photograph other guests that are not part of their own school group.

How do you arrange a risk assessment?

All of our activities and facilities are regularly risk assessed; most schools and colleges are happy with our using our risk management summary (which can be downloaded from htp://, or we can email you copies of our risk assessments.

What does it cost?

Our prices vary depending on the duration of your stay and the time of year that you chose to come. Prices range from £210 per person for a 3 night stay in low season, to £750 per person for a 7 night stay in high season. Prices are inclusive of all meals, accommodation, all activities and evening entertainments.

Is specific clothing required?

Weather appropriate clothing is required as the activities are primarily outdoors. You can download a kit list (including an ‘easy read’ pictorial version) from our schools pages

Do you have first aid on site?

The majority of our staff are trained first aiders.

What facilities do they have for school trips and educational visits?

Our prices are inclusive, so there is no additional charge for use of facilities such as the swimming pool, dining room, Jacuzzi, sports hall, Acland room, children’s play area or for our evening entertainments.

We do have a shop where children can purchase sweets and drinks, and also souvenirs, from key rings and magnets to baseball caps and hoodies.

In the evenings the children can also purchase snacks, sweets and soft drinks from the bar.

Are there disabled facilities?

Our award winning centre is specifically designed to be accessible to everyone, from our accommodation to our activities everything is designed with access in mind.

Facilities include; ensuite roll in showers for every room, H track ceiling hoists in some rooms, mobile hoists, profiling electric beds, medicine fridges, shower chairs, over toilet chairs, bedsides, bumpers, Def-guard alarms and much more.

What are your opening days and hours?

Calvert Trust Exmoor is open all year round apart from between Christmas and New Year. There are staff on site 24/7, reception is available 7 days 9am-5pm, with extended late reception hours until 8pm on Mondays and Fridays.
