We have been accredited with the LOtC quality award badge, enabling us to help you with risk assessments, free teacher visits prior to your trip and educational resources to help you get the most out of the day. Importantly, your pupils can take part in a number of structured workshops that are linked to the National Curriculum and specific programmes of study.

Why is this venue great for School Trips and Educational Visits?

Entry tickets to Chessington include access to all of the rides and attractions in the park including the theme park, Zoo and SEA LIFE centre. Our free cross-curricular online resources are designed to help you get the most from your visit with activities designed to keep you busy before, during and after your visit.

Learning outcomes can be further improved by choosing from a selection of hands-on workshops in our Education Centre. Covering topics from habitats and conservation to forces and DT we have a wide range of workshops to fit your learning objectives.

Workshops are available during term time, excluding weekends and bank holidays, for an additional £1.50 per student. All workshops must be booked in advance and are subject to availability.

What does a typical school trip or educational visit include?

Sample itinerary:

  • 10:00 Arrive at Chessington with a class of eager pupils.
  • 10:15 Join the Otters and their keepers to discover all about the behaviour, eating habits and antics of these mischievous characters.
  • 11:00 Time to bring learning to life with your interactive workshop at the Education Centre.
  • 11:40 The workshop finishes and it’s time to think about food. Enjoy your pre-booked lunch or why not take a trip to Sea Lion Bay for the 12pm show.
  • 12:30 Lunch is done and now you have time to explore the resort, don’t forget to visit our new walk-through penguin enclosure!
  • 15:30 Meet at the Otter enclosure for one last wave good bye, then off to the coach and back to school.

What size groups do they cater for?

We are able to cater for any group size at Chessington World of Adventures Resort. The minimum number of pupils per workshop is 10 The maximum number of pupils per workshop is 30-40.

What can they provide you with to support your school trip or educational visit?

In consultation with practicing teachers, we have developed a range of imaginative and stimulating classroom resources to support the National Curriculum from Key Stages 1 to 5. Resource materials can be downloaded for free in advance of your visit from our website.

We can provide an Information Sheet that you can list the important details of your visit, including emergency contact information, timings, meeting points and area information.

As standard we also offer 1 free teacher ticket for every 5 paying primary students, or every 10 paying secondary students.

With safety being of the utmost importance for all our guests, we provide comprehensive health and safety information at the Park to help teachers in their Risk Assessment.

Do you have first aid on site?

Chessington World of Adventures Resort has a comprehensive emergency plan that has been developed in conjunction with the emergency services. Staff are trained in what to do in an emergency. The Park has Medical/First Aid facilities which are operated by a dedicated team of qualified first aiders.

The Park also has a defibrillator with a team of employees trained to operate this equipment. First aiders are trained to deal with all minor injuries on site and also in the initial stages of any major injuries that may occur until the emergency services arrive at the scene.

The Park has hospitals nearby with Accident and Emergency facilities. The facilities also operate a lost person collection point so that they may be reunited for those responsible for them.

What facilities do they have for school trips and educational visits?

The Park operates a range of food catering outlets which are operated by trained employees. Additionally guests have full access to services including toilets, disabled access toilets, ATMs, lockers (charge applies), first aid centre and shaded areas throughout the Park, some of which can be used to eat packed lunches.

Are there disabled facilities?

Preferred and more convenient car parking is available for disabled guests.Wheelchair hire is available at Chessington World of Adventures Resort. Toilets with disabled access are available throughout the Park. Guests with disabilities who are unable to use the normal queue lines, may visit our Guest Help and Information Office (located in Market Square) where they may be able to receive preferential ride access wristbands (documentary proof of disability may be required). These wristbands allow preferential access to the rides via entry points designed for ease of access.
