Are you on Twitter, Facebook or any other social media?

Exactly what does your venue offer to educational visits?

Go Ape is a great choice for school trips, especially if you’re looking to give your pupils an experience they will never forget. Encourage teamwork, build confidence and self-esteem all in the great outdoors.

Your class will be able to complete either the classic 2-3-hour Tree Top Adventure or the 1-hour Tree Top Junior Adventure, depending on their age and height. You must be over 1.4m and 10+ years to take part on Tree Top Adventure and over 1m tall to take part on Tree Top Junior. In both adventures your pupils will enjoy a range of fun challenges including wobbly obstacles, Tarzan swings, zip wires and more. Release the stresses of school life as you all unleash your inner Tarzans and enjoy getting back to nature. Whilst the classroom teaches basic concepts, there really is no substitute for real life experiences out in the wider world.

Challenge your students and encourage them to push themselves to try something new and live life adventurously. Overcoming positive challenges is essential for nurturing children’s personal development, life skills, and self-confidence.

Go Ape is available at 4 locations in the North East including:

Why you are you a great place for educational visits?

Go Ape is a fantastic place for school visits as they blend the fun of outdoor activities with exciting challenges that aid the personal growth and development of the children. Our unique Tree Top Adventure is a day out like no other. Build up confidence, motivate your pupils to persevere and encourage teamwork and support of each other’s efforts … but most importantly, you’ll all have a lot of fun up in the trees!

What does a typical educational visit include?

The exciting thing about Go Ape is that you can adapt your visit to specifically meet the needs of your own tribe. You use the forest space as your classroom (or there are forest shelters for hire should it rain!) and you can shape the day how you want it.

An example of what your day could look like:

1. Arrive at the forest. Gather the tribe and complete the obligatory bathroom stops

- Allow 30 minutes

2. Arrive at the Go Ape cabin ready for your adventure

               - Allow 15 minutes to read through the necessary disclaimers

3. The whole Tribe enjoys their Tree Top Adventure

- Allow 1 hour for a Tree Top Junior and up to 3 hours to complete the Tree Top Adventure

4. Sit down to lunch in the forest (or under our forest shelter if it rains!)

               - Allow 1-1.5 hours

5. Complete a free learning resource available to download from

               - Allow 1 hour to complete your chosen learning resource sheet

6. Leave the forest with great memories of your day

What group sizes do you cater for?

Go Ape can cater for most sizes of groups from small numbers right up to 250 people!

Do you provide projects, teacher’s packs, work sheets or any useful information?

Go Ape offer a range of free downloadable learning resources for Maths, Science and English. These are available to download individually from or you can request a schools’ pack from Go Ape with all the information you need about planning a school trip and a selection of learning resources included. Request a schools’ pack here

Are you happy for children to take photos, video or audio?

Photos can be taken by the students from the ground but not whilst up in the trees due to safety.

What is your process for booking pre arranged risk assessments?

Teachers are more than welcome to visit the site beforehand to carry out a risk assessment, or even give the trees a go for free during their pre-visit.

What is the cost of the visit?

The 1-hour Tree Top Junior Adventure prices are as follows:

Tree Top Junior - £13

This includes a £5 per person school groups visiting term-time Monday- Friday. Children aged 6+ must be supervised by an adult at a ratio of 1:8. 1 teacher can safely supervise up to 8 children from the forest floor for free.

The classic 2-3-hour Tree Top Adventure prices are as follows:

Baboons (aged 10-15) - £20

Gorillas (aged 16+) - £26.40

This includes a 20% discount for secondary school groups visiting term-time Monday- Friday. Students must be supervised in the trees by a participating adult at a ratio of 1:2.

Is specific clothing required for the trip?

You should wear something you don’t mind getting grubby. Dress for the weather so bring along a mac if it’s raining! Please wear appropriate footwear with soles with good grips. No sandals or slip-off shoes. Long hair must be tied back.

Do you have first aid on site or will the group need to bring a qualified first aider?

There is a fully qualified first aider at every Go Ape site so you do not have to worry about bringing someone along for that purpose.

Please list facilities available.

There are restaurants located at the wide majority of our leafy hangouts, these are run by third party businesses on site. Just to give you a little taste (excuse the pun) of what’s on offer, Seasons Restaurant can be found at Moors Valley, San Reno Café at Black Park, The Cafe at High Lodge, Thetford can and the Fairfax Restaurant at Leeds Castle to name just a few.

You are also more than welcome to bring packed lunches and eat in the forest. There are plenty of benches around, or you can hire the Go Ape forest shelter if it decides to rain.

Toilets are located just a few minutes’ walk from the Go Ape cabin.

What are your disabled facilities?

Go Ape is dedicated to welcoming as many people as possible. However, whilst our courses are designed to be accessible to most people they do offer a degree of physical and mental challenge. For some persons with special needs this may mean that additional equipment and/or levels of supervision will be required for safe participation. For others the risks of injury may still be too great despite taking such additional measures, preventing their use of the course. There is an Additional Support Requirements Guidelines available on for more information.

What are your opening days and hours?

During daylight hours between February - November (except Dec – Jan when the sites are closed for course maintenance)

Do you have any testimonials from previous schools we can include?

“My class worked fantastically as a team. It really is a fantastic thing to do as a school… I loved it and want to work here!” Mrs Lewis

“It really brought their learning to life. It was an excellent idea to come here and was a brilliant day for everyone.” Mr Pryke
