The REP offers an entire range of resources, workshops and theatre opportunities on educational visits. From workshops based on theatre productions to a completely bespoke package, there is plenty on offer.

Here is a taste of what The REP can offer to educational visits:

-    Theatre Days which provide an insight into a production at The REP before you see the show and you may even get the chance to meet the creative team!

-    Schools Membership ranging between free and paid-for membership entitling you to a variety of discounts

-    REP Insights Packs that teachers can download in advance of the trip

-    Training events for teachers

-    We are a Welcome Centre and can offer backstage tours and bespoke projects

-    Toy Theatres is a chance for you to build and make a toy theatre, so you can then create a play. You get the chance to work with a playwright and a visual artist.

-    Career Event days

-    Early Years Packages which can include anything from workshops, to networking meetings, inset training for staff and theatre trips

What size groups do they cater for?


We are incredibly flexible and can cater for both small and large groups. For workshops it is around a class of 30, but again this can be tailored dependent on your needs.


What can they provide you with to support your school trip or educational visit?

We provide REP Insight Packs for our shows and these can be downloaded from our website birmingham-rep.co.uk.


Can you take photos, video or audio? Are there any copyright restrictions?

This is dependent on a number of circumstances and your school will be provided this information prior to the visit.


How do you arrange a risk assessment?

We provide a risk assessment to teachers to fill out if they are coming to visit the theatre and we also carry out a personal one too.

Yes, but there needs to also be a supervising teacher with the group.


What facilities do they have for school trips and educational visits?

We have a range of facilities including The TREATS which is our sweets, ice cream, programme and merchandise shop. We also have plenty of space front of house if you wish to bring packed lunches along with you.


Are there disabled facilities?


We offer a range of facilities including audio described, captioned and British Sign Language interpreted performances. As well as this we welcome guide dogs into the theatre, we offer touch tours to give the chance to see and touch the costumes for the play you’ve come to see, we have assisted hearing services in our theatre, all our counters are fitted with hearing loops and several members of our front of house team can communicate using BSL. We also have specifically designed relaxed performances, wheelchair seating, easy physical access to all levels of our theatre, accessible toilets and parking.
