Alton Water Sports Centre in Suffolk can offer a range of programmes in a single sport or combine a number of sports to meet the needs, aims or abilities of your educational group. The centre aims to provide young people / pupils with the knowledge, skills and experience to be confident in the water environment, by providing challenge by choice.  Our instructors will facilitate your school pupils and educational group learning and development especially in areas of self-confidence and reliance through experiential learning on the water.

Exactly what does your venue offer to educational visits?

Whether you are looking for dinghy sailing, windsurfing, paddling or a multi activity, team building day, Alton Water Sports Centre can put a program together to ensure your school trip is safe, exciting, educational and above all fun.

Alton Water Sports Centre is an RYA and AALA approved teaching establishment, based on Suffolk’s largest area of inland water, with a strong focus on offering healthy outdoor sports for children and young adults in a safe open water environment.

You will find a trip to Alton Water Centre will greatly benefit students’ personal development and growth. Through a safe and fun environment students will be facing new challenges, developing communication and teamwork skills and will achieve surprising results.

Do you have the LOtC Quality Badge or any other accreditation such as AALA?

We have AALA recondition.

What group sizes do you cater for?

We can cater to groups up to about 72

Do you provide projects, teacher’s packs, work sheets or any useful information?

Not as such but would look to talk with the teachers if there was any areas that they wished us to work on.

Are you happy for children to take photos, video or audio?

No, we have to talk with the teacher about this and then one of our qualified people would do it and then present it to the teacher.

What is your process for booking pre arranged risk assessments?

Do you provide risk assessments for the teachers? Yes we can provide any risk assessments or procedures that they require.

Does your venue have an education officer?

We have no one that has that role but if they have any problems then our Principal will be on hand to answer them.

What is the cost of the visit?

We work on whether the group would like half or full day. The cost is £15 per person for a half day or £30 for a full day. This is with a 10-1 and then 1.30-4.30 sessions.

Do you have first aid on site or will the group need to bring a qualified first aider?

No, all of our staff are first aid trained and we have an area on site to cope with any problems.

We have changing facility and then we can give the school their own classroom to store equipment and have their packed lunch if the weather is not very good.

What are your disabled facilities?

We have a couple of disabled groups use our facility and they have not raised any problems at the moments.

We are open from April – October 10-7
