Description

Hooke Court Field Study Centres in Dorset and South Wales offer fabulous learning experiences outside the classroom for children of all ages.  Our popular programmes are designed to enhance the national curriculum in subjects such as history, science, geography, English, etc. as well as team building and communication programmes.

With over 20 years experience, and an exemplary safety record, we have created two unique study centres in safe, tranquil settings.  Each group is treated individually and time is taken to assess their needs to provide a range of stimulating educational activities with comfortable accommodation.

The historical settings of both field study centres are truly inspirational; a 12th century Manor House provides the centrepiece for Hooke Court Dorset and the 18th century Georgian Manor House at Hooke Court Wales stands proudly above the sea in Carmarthenshire.  These historical characters are used to their full potential to enhance the expansive range of educational programmes that we offer.

With a wealth of experience from primary to GCSE level teaching staff, our qualified and knowledgeable tutors have enabled Hooke Court to develop a wide range of programmes that enhance and supplement the National Curriculum allowing children to access learning at their own level.  We pride ourselves on providing excellent opportunities for children to develop their team work, communication and negotiating skills through stimulating and fun activities.

Beyond our extensive landscaped grounds at Hooke Court Dorset, just 11 miles away, lies the World Heritage Jurassic Coast and some of West Dorset’s finest attractions, which provide yet more opportunities for fun and exciting ways to learn and grow.  In contrast just a short walk from Hooke Court Wales you will find the most beautiful estuary where you can wander for miles on sandy beaches, explore rock pools and enjoy magnificent views of Llansteffan Castle.

Why is this venue great for School Trips and Educational Visits?

All our tutors have appropriate qualifications with many being qualified teachers.  The surroundings at Hooke Court in both Dorset and Wales are tranquil safe settings in which the tutors bring learning to life and fun for the children.

Hooke Court can accommodate up to 240 children at any one time with the ability to keep each group separate to avoid any awkwardness that may arise in sharing with another school.  Our field study centre in Wales accommodates is smaller and accommodates just one group at a time.

What does a typical school trip or educational visit include?

What can they provide you with to support your school trip or educational visit?

We do not provide project packs for teachers.  Although, we recommend that teachers visit us before they arrive to plan their programme and familiarize themselves with Hooke Court.  On arrival teachers are given a welcome pack, which details the main areas of Hooke Court, first aid, 24 hour on-site assistance, etc.

Each group is catered for individually, which is why the pre-visit is so important.  This visit enables us to discover exactly what areas the teachers wish to cover during their time with us.

Our programmes are flexible enough to customize dependent on the educational needs of each group.  Any written materials are kept at the discretion of the visiting staff as they may task their children with writing a diary of their visit for instance.

Can you take photos, video or audio? Are there any copyright restrictions?

There are no copyright restrictions and we do allow groups to take photos, video and audio where appropriate but only of their own group.

How do you arrange a risk assessment?

All of our staff are CRB checked and our risk assessment report can be provided to visiting teachers if required.  Most of our activities are low risk and are therefore regulated by our own internal Risk Assessments. These are regularly reviewed and updated as necessary.  Where necessary our tutors are also trained to work within the safety guidelines of the National Governing Body responsible for any particular activity.  All buildings have fire detection systems. We brief all group leaders on what to do in the event of a fire on arrival.
