At Weston SeaQuarium we are committed to ensuring that every school group receives individual and personal attention. Our all-weather venue is perfectly situated on an amazing stretch of golden sand in the heart of Weston-Super-Mare, and includes a journey through 10 zones of some of the world’s most exotic creatures. With over 30 exhibits, and species ranging from lion fish to sharks and rays, your pupils will be enthralled.

Exactly what does your venue offer to educational visits?
Both schools and groups can book a private ‘Guided Tour’ or ‘Discovery session’ and get HANDS ON with the weird and wonderful sea creatures found around our local coastline. With the use of a projector we can SEE CLOSER an anemone’s mouth and later have the opportunity to TOUCH a Mermaid’s purse.

What does a typical educational visit include?
SeaQuarium Weston offers a fantastic learning experience for children of all ages with a great mix of Freshwater, Tropical and Marine displays. The aquarium is situated on its own unique pier on Weston-super-Mare seafront. The aquarium has over 30 exhibits including a Tropical Reef Zone with Puffer Fish, Rainforest River Zone with Piranha and Underwater Ocean Tunnel with Sharks.

Both schools and groups can book a private ‘Guided Tour’ or ‘Discovery session’ and get HANDS ON with the weird and wonderful sea creatures found around our local coastline. With the use of a projector we can SEE CLOSER an anemone’s mouth and later have the opportunity to TOUCH a Mermaid’s purse.

With the beach front location, SeaQuarium is the perfect destination for a combined school visit onto the beach meaning pupils can learn both about the local marine environment as well as from the SeaQuarium displays.

What group sizes do you cater for?
School and group rates are for a minimum of 10 paying persons and our Discovery Sessions hold a maximum of 30 per session (minimum £20/20 pupils per session) .

Do you provide projects, teacher’s packs, work sheets or any useful information?
None at this time, if there are changes to this we will update accordingly.

Are you happy for children to take photos, video or audio?
No flash photography anywhere within the SeaQuarium building is permitted due to the effect it has on our animals however photography and videos without a flash or bright light is permitted.

What is your process for booking pre-arranged risk assessments?
We can provide a basic group visit risk assessment when the booking is confirmed. However, we do highly recommend and suggest that you visit the site beforehand to perform your own risk assessment for your group.
A pre-teacher visit is included with the booking of a school group visit to cater for this.

What is the cost of the visit?
Group Costs (minimum of 10 paying guests):

One free adult admission for every 6 paying children

Youth Groups

Discovery Sessions & Guided Tours - £1.00 extra per child
Bespoke extra’s such as Goody bags are also avaliable starting from as little as £1.50!

Is specific clothing required for the trip?
No, however we do advise that high-vis jackets be removed before entering the aquarium

Do you have first aid on site or will the group need to bring a qualified first aider?
At least one ‘First Aid at Work’ qualified member of staff on duty on a daily basis

Our *Driftwood Café offers stunning views of the Somerset coastline. Please ask when you book about our fantastic range of children’s ice creams available for pre-ordering.
Our Souvenir Gift Shop has a wide range of toys, stationary and games. SeaQuarium Goody bags are available for pre-ordering, saving you time and a discount off the retail price. These are avaliable to collect on arrival or departure. From £1.50 per goody bag.
*Please note that the Driftwood Café is not available for eating packed lunches.

What are your disabled facilities?
One disabled toilet and disabled access throughout aquarium. Limited disabled access currently within our discovery session room. Please speak with our team regarding smaller discovery session sizes for disabled groups.

What are your opening days and hours?
Open daily from 10am between 11th February – 5th November check our website for more information.
