Real Adventure is a mobile organisation offering bespoke outdoor education courses across the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales.  We believe outdoor learning makes a lasting impression on young people that instill skills for life through building strong relationships with both students and teachers, increase their confidence, self-awareness and motivation which enhances their learning back at school and outlook on life.

PICK AND MIX!  We offer you the flexibility to create your own bespoke outdoor environmental and adventure courses that are tailored to you and your group.  We provide high quality, educational and safe day and residential adventures at an affordable cost.  You can select from a range of options to build your own package.  Whether you want a fully catered residential or day trip and transport or need support with equipment or specialist staff and expertise, we can find a solution which will meet all your requirements.  

THE ADVENTURES - Whether you fancy delving underground, journeying overground, getting wet, staying dry, climbing high or keeping feet firmly planted on the ground we have a team of highly qualified, experienced and inspirational staff who will lead you through your next journey and challenge. 

We provide all the necessary activity equipment and individual kit - waterproofs, fleeces, boots and wellies to keep students warm and dry during their adventures so the weather is never an excuse not to get out and play! 

THE ENVIRONMENT - Learning and caring for the environment is integral to all our activities including ‘leave no trace’ and bushcraft. We
can also provide field studies days to support curriculum subjects or guide you towards achieving The John Muir Award. 

We can also provide varying levels of support to help you deliver the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award – skills training, expedition support or an assessor.  

TRANSPORT – We hold a VOSA Operators License and all drivers have undergone the appropriate professional training.  We can provide multiple minibuses with up to 17 seats depending on your requirements.  Alternatively, our drivers can drive your minibuses.

Both the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, offer fantastic opportunities for adventure learning - it can be hard
to choose where to go. As a mobile company, we use a selection of venues and will help you to identify the one that suits your requirements for group size, activity preferences and transport.

What does a typical educational visit include?

The nature of our set-up means there isn’t a typical course as they are all individually tailored and make it that little something extra special.  What you can expect from Real Adventure is high quality adventure and education from exceptional leaders, high quality equipment based in some stunning locations forming a truly memorable experience.  

We can accommodate individuals of all ages and ability from reception to the old and wise. We will plan activities to be suitable for the age and ability of the individuals and group.  

What group sizes do you cater for?

We can offer one to one support or accommodate a whole year group of over 100.  

Recommended individual group size between 8-10 participants per instructor.  

Maximum individual group size 1:12 ratio per instructor.

More specialist and technical activities may require smaller ratios.  

Are you happy for children to take photos, video or audio? 

Yes. We have a selection of cameras for group use whilst on activity.

A copy of all media will then be given to the group leaders for distribution as appropriate.

What is your process for booking pre arranged risk assessments? 

Our Risk Assessment policies have been approved by a number of Local Education Authorities and AALA.  

We can support and guide your staff through any further risk assessments required for the accommodation and non-activity time with Real Adventure.

What is the cost of the visit?

Due to the nature of how you pick and mix your course, this will determine the cost depending on the number of participants, the activities chosen and if transport is required.Costs can range from £30 - £45 per head.  

Is specific clothing required for the trip?

Suitable clothing and footwear you are happy to get potentially wet and muddy in and which will keep you warm.

We can provide waterproof top and bottoms and a fleece top.  There is also a selection of walking boots, wellingtons and rucksacks available if needed.  

Do you have first aid on site or will the group need to bring a qualified first aider?

All our staff are first aid qualified.

You will need to bring a qualified first aider to be responsible at the accommodation for non-activity time.

Please list facilities available. 

There will be very limited access to facilities whilst out on your adventure.

You will need to bring a packed lunch and be prepared for a day out of doors.  

What are your disabled facilities? 

If you require disabled facilities please let us know so we can discuss an appropriate venue. We have specialist equipment available to enable participation in activities.

What are your opening days and hours?

The office is staffed on a variable part time basis as we are out and about quite a lot!
