Alongside your trip to the theatre, backstage tours can also be arranged (subject to availability). Every backstage tour provides a unique insight into the show currently in residence and allows you to see what really happens when the curtain goes up.

Learn the history of the theatre, glimpse into some of the dressing rooms where the stars of the show get ready and find out some superstitions of the theatre, including why it’s bad luck to whistle on stage! A fantastic and fun way of introducing our patrons to the magic of that takes place behind the scenes, our backstage tour enthrall everyone of all ages and makes your trip to the theatre, that extra bit special.

Please note: All tours vary according to what is available on the day. Access to rehearsals is never permitted. Remember that you are visiting a working theatre and plans may change at short notice.

Can you take photos, video or audio? Are there any copyright restrictions?

The use of recording equipment is strictly prohibited and no photography is allowed during any performance. Should your group be taking part in a backstage tour then the taking of photographs will be at the discretion of the company manager.

How do you arrange a risk assessment?

The theatre is happy to provide the necessary information for any risk assessments that need to carried out.

What does it cost?

School Groups or Uniformed Groups of 10+ Best available seats for £6.50 for most shows. 1 accompanying adult goes free for every 10 tickets booked. Full time student/educational group rates available for selected performances. Please contact us on 0844 871 7619 for more information.

Is specific clothing required?

No, however it may be useful for children to wear school uniform to enable the teachers/guardians to clearly identify their pupils, especially for performances popular with schools such as Pantomime.

Do you have first aid on site?

There are always qualified first aiders on duty when the building is open to the public however we recommend that you also bring your own first aider when visiting the theatre as part of a group.


What facilities do they have for school trips and educational visits?

The Regent Theatre has a merchandise area where sweets and snacks can be purchased and The Victoria Hall is home to The Atrium Café Bar where a lunch menu is available.
Both venues have bars and toilets on all levels of the theatre. We do have space for your school party to eat their packed lunch, however we do ask this is arrange prior to your visit to the theatre.

Are there disabled facilities?

The Regent Theatre is committed to providing a fantastic service to all of our patrons. We have an excellent Front of House team that will be more than happy to help with any enquiries you may have, and the theatre has numerous facilities to ensure that your experience is as easy and enjoyable as possible. They include:

• Lift access to all areas of the theatre including toilets, Box Office and bars

• A spacious, comfortable auditorium with some seats that can be accessed without the worry of stairs

• Wheelchair spaces on all auditorium levels

• Infra-red audio system available for people with hearing impairment

• Guide dogs welcome in all areas of the theatre

• Audio described and sign language interpreted performances offered on selected shows.
