Description

Chel-Ski offers the perfect environment for sports clubs, race clubs and PE clubs. Whilst the experience is fun-packed, we are very much focused on learning and improving technique. The very nature of the Chel-Ski offer means that progression is seen at a much faster rate than on real snow.

What does a typical educational visit include?
We are enormously proud of our links with the local community and in particular within the education sector. We are keen to ensure that the skiing pastime is available to everyone, whether they can get to the actual alpine slopes or not!

The Chel-Ski venue is used by the GB ski team past and present, including Chemmy Alcott, Ed Drake, Graham Bell and Charlotte Evans. The Swiss national ski team use an identical slope at Junggraupark, Interlaken.

Sessions last one hour and the small groups mean that your instructor can be a more focused critical friend, enabling you to work together to push yourself to achieving your goals. Sessions can help to reinforce muscle memory and strengthen core attributes required in both competitive and leisure skiing and snowboarding.

At Chel-Ski, you do what you came to do: ski or board. There is no queuing time for lifts and no waiting time to ski.

We also work closely with a number of schools’ racing teams, and run a summer training programme to improve skills, technique and times.

What group sizes do you cater for?
We have 2 slopes, which each comfortably take 6 skiers per session. Depending on ability and the requirements for the session, we are able to adjust this at our discretion. Slopes are able to change speed and gradient depending on the ability of the Skiers/Snowboarders. Please get in touch for more information.

Do you provide projects, teacher’s packs, work sheets or any useful information?
All our guests are given Development Books which track their progress.

Are you happy for children to take photos, video or audio?
Providing there are no photography permission issues, we are happy for photos and filming, although obviously not from the slopes!

What is your process for booking pre arranged risk assessments?
We have our own RA available, but are happy to accommodate schools who wish to come along and do their own, at a mutually convenient time.

Does your venue have an education officer?
Camilla Harrison is our Education Liaison and so your first point of contact.

What is the cost of the visit?
We offer a discount to schools and youth groups. More information upon request. Discounts are based on term-time visits, and do not include our training programme, which is costed separately.

Is specific clothing required for the trip?
Trousers (jeans or leggings are fine) and long sleeved tops are recommended. All ski equipment is provided.

Do you have first aid on site or will the group need to bring a qualified first aider?
There are several First Aiders on site.

Please list facilities available.
Our Alpine Bar serves a fantastic selection of refreshments.
Changing facilities, on-site parking (by prior arrangement)

What are your disabled facilities?
Our team are familiar with learning and behavioural disabilities. Physical disabilities are something we would need to consider on a case by case basis, given the nature of the venue. Accessible via ramp. Disabled toilet.

What are your opening days and hours?
We open at 10am for the first session of the day, and our last regular session is 7pm, when we then move into corporate and private events.
