However, Castlerigg Manor is much more than that, we offer a homely hostel environment in a beautiful location set in 6 acres of grounds with excellent home cooking, open to all schools and groups wishing to visit the Lake District.

Whether this is to partake in one of our led retreats, to hold your own retreat, for a geography field trip, end of school year 6 residential, staff team building or any other residential trip please give us a call on 017687 72711 or email to discuss how we can help you have a fantastic stay in Keswick.

We do not offer any activities but have links with local activity providers who would be able to offer climbing, kayaking, ghyll scrambling and many other activities.  We also have a holiday cottage in our grounds sleeping 10 people which can be used as extra accommodation or booked separately for a small group or family

Do you have any testimonials from previous schools we can include?
“A retreat at Castlerigg offers something that young people will not get from anywhere else. It is life changing for some of the pupils, particularly at this stage of life as they begin to make life choices. You can’t buy and can’t teach what they receive here on a spiritual level and on a confidence level.”

“The School of Education at the University of Leeds has chosen to stay at Castlerigg Manor, as it provides a welcoming and unique hostel experience. Its location in the heart of the Lake District and the enthusiasm and dedication of its staff and volunteers, contribute massively to making our student’s annual Lake District adventure one that they will remember for years to come”.
