Exactly what does your venue offer to educational visits?
Unique Outdoors offers an exciting range of outdoor activities to all sorts of groups including; birthday parties, charitable organisations, church and leisure groups, schools and local clubs & sports teams. We are affiliated with Berkshire Scouts and have an outstanding reputation throughout the local community with lots of repeat bookings and happy customers.

Schools can benefit from getting students into a different setting where pupils have a great opportunity to stretch themselves within a safe environment. Our main business, GRA Ltd, has been working with a host of large corporations, professional sports teams and schools for over 27 years. We are the industry leaders in releasing the potential of individuals, teams and organisations working across the globe delivering indoor and outdoor learning and development programs. Unique Outdoors is the weekend and evening based leisure business for GRA Ltd providing high quality, safe activities through our friendly, fully qualified team.

Apart from having fun, students will learn a bit about how to interact with each other as a group. We have a strong ‘challenge by choice’ ethos that allows people to challenge any self-limiting beliefs in a pressure free environment. Many guests often end up surprised at what they can achieve, especially on the ropes course!

We can provide short activities for smaller groups or half to full day activity packages for larger groups and vice versa. Just get in touch and we can put something bespoke together if you have something other than our standard activities and packages in mind.

Why you are you a great place for educational visits?
Unique Outdoors is based within Wokefield Estate, Mortimer, Reading. We share the 250 acre parkland with one of De Vere hotel’s flagship venues as well as the BMW national training academy. We have activities scattered around the grounds but are principally based within our 15 acre outdoor centre in the woods behind the hotel. It really is an amazing space and is a stone’s throw away from J6 of the M4, Mortimer railway station or just off the A33 if you’re coming from Basingstoke/Winchester direction. It’s a quiet and inspiring place to come and take part on an evening session or day of activities.

Do you have the LOtC Quality Badge or any other accreditation such as AALA?
We are an AALA accredited outdoor centre. We are also one of 3 active European Ropes Course Assocation (ERCA) training centres in the UK.

We have provided a number of activities for schools over the years including Downe House School in Thatcham who we have worked with for over 4 years. The testimonial below is from an event in 2013. We have run 6 events for Downehouse up to June 2017 so far both on and offsite.

“Unique Outdoors offered our pupils an exciting, challenging and very well organised team building day! The instructors are warm and inviting with heaps of patience and encouragement, which is often needed with a group of 60+ teenage girls!

We achieved everything we had hoped for plus more, even those scared of heights accomplished their fears in some small way by the end of the day, it’s a day I would highly recommend.”
Mrs Julie Dell, Head of Co-Curricular Department, Downe House School.

Is there anything else that you feel is important and want to include in your information?
If you have the space we can bring activities to you. We’ll visit the site and carry out specific risk assessments beforehand to assess the suitability of the areas. Laser combat, archery and zorbing are all available on a mobile basis.
