The York City Sightseeing open top bus tour gives visitors of all age groups the opportunity to learn about what makes York such an amazing city to visit. On your tour you will see unique features that makes this historic city so special and be able to listen to interesting and factual commentary as well as some amusing stories of Yorks past.

We offer the tours in range of different languages to cater for people from all over the world.

It was King George VI who said “The history of York is the history of England” and you will certainly see how true those words are as we cover 2000 years in a 1 hour tour.

Are you on Twitter, Facebook or any other social media?

Why you are you a great place for educational visits?
York has 2000 years of history meaning we cover all eras and so we welcome pupils across all the key stages. The tour enhances what is taught in the classroom by giving students the opportunity to actually see the history in front of them and experience the historic surroundings.

For example, you will see a Roman wall, the Viking influence in the city, a castle originally built by William the Conqueror, Dick Turpins grave and lots of other amazing sights.

We endeavor to stir students imagination and help them get a real feel of what it was like to live in York in times past while having the excitement of riding on an open top bus.

Do you have the LOtC Quality Badge or any other accreditation such as AALA?
“Visit England Quality Rose Marque”
“Certificate of Excellence” from Trip Advisor.

What does a typical educational visit include?
A School visit gives all age groups the chance to learn more about Yorks history. Pupils can listen to the commentary in numerous languages but we have specially created an amusing but interesting commentary for children to listen to that makes learning fun while being educational.

For those who book the bus exclusively, we can tailor make the tour to your needs and those of your students. We cater to all ages. As York covers all eras of history, we can focus on a particular era and relate it to the city while making the tour educational but fun. Perhaps you are focusing on the Romans or the Vikings, we can include lots of interesting facts and relate it to different parts of the city.

We have no limit on group sizes. Each of our buses holds up to 73 people. If the group is larger we can use more buses.

Toilets are just opposite the Tower and Museum Gardens is just a 2 minute walk away which is a perfect large open space for groups to sit and have lunch outside. They can see the ruins of St Marys abbey which was one of the richest abbeys in the world and also watch the VERY friendly squirrels!
