Why you are you a great place for educational visits?
Undercover Rock gives people the chance to try rock climbing right in the heart of Bristol. With a team of experienced climbers and instructors based in the centre, it offers an extremely high quality of climbing routes and walls. Not only is climbing a fantastic way to keep active but it also helps develop children’s approach to problem solving, builds confidence and encourages teamwork.

During the summer months, we also offer climbing tasters outside in the Avon Gorge.

Do you have the LOtC Quality Badge or any other accreditation such as AALA?
We are AALA registered.

What does a typical educational visit include?
Educational visits to Undercover are designed to teach students the basics of roped-climbing technique and safety. An instructor will show students a variety of easy tips to move on walls efficiently as well as help them solve problems and understand holds in order to complete routes. We offer students plenty of time on the wall making it a very hands-on learning experience. Children also get to give bouldering a try in our designated bouldering area. If the school wants, groups can undertake NICAS (National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme).

What group sizes do you cater for?
Up to 30 at one time, we work on a ratio of 1 instructor to 9 students.

Are you happy for children to take photos, video or audio?
We’re happy for students to take photos and videos at TCA but phones and video devices aren’t allowed during a climb or when they are belaying.

What is your process for booking pre arranged risk assessments?
We will provide risk assessments for teachers.

Does your venue have an education officer?
No. Please contact office@undercover-rock.com for further information.

What is the cost of the visit?
This depends on how many students and the nature of your visit. Email or phone for further information.

Is specific clothing required for the trip?
Loose fitted clothing (such as jogging bottoms, shorts and t-shirts). All equipment is provided.

Do you have first aid on site or will the group need to bring a qualified first aider?
We have a first aider on site.

Please list facilities available.
Undercover Rock has a large seating area where children are free to eat their own packed lunch. There’s also a cafe where sandwiches, snacks and soft drinks can be purchased.

What are your disabled facilities?
