Description

Colehayes Park was established as a Field Study Centre in 1970 and has been providing excellent facilities to Primary School’s, 6th Form Colleges and University’s in a relaxed and comfortable environment ever since.

Colehayes Park is located just outside Bovey Tracey within Dartmoor National Park. All age ranges are welcome from Primary Schools to Universities, whether it is to be a first residential trip with fun activities or for educational fieldwork, Colehayes is a great base for all. We are ideally suited for parties to study Geography, Geology, Environmental Sciences and Biology. Most groups study Dartmoor, the Torbay coastline, the River Dart and tributaries and local farming etc.

In the near vicinity there is an extraordinary variety of landscape and habitat, the granite uplands, the sands, lignite and clays of the Bovey Basin and the shales, gritscherts and limestone of the surrounding area provide great contrast. Prehistoric remains abound on the Moor and evidence of Bronze Age man can be easily found.

Colehayes Park and Backwater Adventure have teamed up and they can now offer you an exciting choice of Fantastic Outdoor Activities. Based right HERE at Colehayes on the New Purpose Built Activity Camp or off site at a variety of stunning Devon Locations.

Whether you are a school on an Adventure Residential or a Field Study Group wanting a break from the classroom... we have the perfect adventure for you.

Please note, Colehayes Park is not within walking distance to any public transport, our closest rail links are Exeter OR Newton Abbot which will then be a 20-30 min taxi ride to Colehayes Park. We have ample onsite parking for cars, mini buses and coaches.

What group sizes do you cater for?
We can sleep up to 70 people however more might be possible depending on the staff to student ratio. We do have extra accommodation in our holiday cottage Cork Tree Cottage that is located just next door to the Field Study Centre and sleeps 11, but again it does depend on the break down as to how we allocate the staff/students.

As an average we usually have groups of around 50-60 staying at a time.
