Comfortable bunkhouse accommodation sleeping up to 36 in 4 bedrooms, an ideal base for experiencing the beautiful Forest of Dean, the Wye Valley (AONB), the Welsh Black mountains and accessing a myriad of activities.

Set in a converted Victorian school with good access from the M5 motorway, the entire tranquil 1.5 acres site of Oakraven Field Centre is available for exclusive hire by groups.

The building consists of a very large communal hall heated by a wood burner and four dormitories with electric radiators. The main dormitory sleeps 20, a second dormitory sleeps 10 and two other rooms each sleep 3 and are perfect for group leaders. There is a study, the large kitchen has a double range cooker and large fridge/freezer. There is an on-site warden available to help you with any problems

What group sizes do you cater for?

Up to 36 in 4 bedrooms. We have reduced rates for smaller groups.

Please give information regarding room sizes and room facilities?

The main dormitory sleeps 20, a second dormitory sleeps 10. Two other rooms each sleep 3 and are perfect for group leaders. The dormitories all contain triple bunks. The building consists of a very large communal hall with dinning area for 36. The main hall is heated by a wood burner and the four dormitories have electric radiators. There is a large kitchen with double range cooker and a single cooker. There is a female toilet area with shower, a male toilet area and a disable access toilet with disable access shower. The main hall has a TV and there is Wi-Fi. There are projections screens in the main hall and the study room.

What is the cost of the accommodation?

Accommodation is generally prices at less than £10 per head, per night. The cost of the exclusive hire of the centre for: up to 20 people for 1 week is £1300, up to 30 people for 1 week is £1400 and up to 36 people for 1 week is £1500. The cost just for a 2-night weekend (Fri-Sun) for: up to 20 people is £600, up to 30 people is £700, or £800 for up to 36 people. A 3-night weekend booking for up to 36 people is £900. Weekday bookings are £200 per for up to 30 people.

Yes we can provide generic risk assessments for the centre and our on-site documentation for fire checks is available for examination.

We can provide a catered options for groups of at least 30, from £26 per head for a 2-night stay (evening meal, breakfast, lunch, evening meal, breakfast). The main hall provides a relaxation area and has dinning tables for 36 people. The centre has Wi-fi.

What are your disabled facilities?

The accommodation is ground floor level. There is a lift for access for one split in level. There is a disable access toilet, with disable access shower.

What are your opening days and hours?

The site is normally always accessible as there is a warden available on site generally 27/7. We have a curfew on outside noise from 10pm.

Is there anything else that you feel is important and want to include in your information?

We have 1.5 acres of grounds and a 3.5 woodland reserve area available for educational uses. We also have direct access to the Forest of Dean.
