Our fantastic active adventure challenge days offer the option for groups to join us on an action packed day experience with activities that are specifically designed to meet the needs and requirements for the age groups with which we work, focusing on ensuring children are clear on the outcome and theme of the day’s activities and maintaining the pace and fluidity throughout their stay with us to keep the group engaged and motivated throughout.

Exactly what does your venue offer to educational visits?

The activity and camping site is located in the beautiful Bedfordshire countryside, accessed via the traditional village of Bromham.

The site consists of a large ancient woodland area approximately 8 acres in total and a wide open field based in the center of the woodland. We have a range of set activity zones hidden within the woodland, which are joined by a maze of natural paths.  In addition, we have many ‘pop up’ activity areas which makes our experiences really at one with the great outdoors and natural environment.

While the site offers a rural wilderness feel we also have plenty of modern facilities, including good quality toilet facilities, indoor learning spaces, water and electricity and if your lucky even a phone signal.

The site is designed for groups of young people to visit and has a high security fenced boundary to ensure everyone remains safe.

The site offers activity spaces for everything you could imagine including:

•             Bushcraft

•             Team building

•             Archery

•             Rifle shooting

•             Caving (man made)

What does a typical educational visit include?

SSG Active Adventure & Challenge originates from programmes designed to support schools with their PE, school sports and learning outside the classroom needs. All of our programmes and the activities have mapped learning outcomes embedded in them to ensure everything we do has maximum impact towards the benefits for the participants.

Our qualified education team ensures that the method, content, level and type of delivery activities are suitable for the different key stages/age groups we work with and are able to map learning within our programmes to any curriculum outcomes desired.

Because our programme planning starts with the needs of the participants, which are then linked to the most appropriate types of activities and formats we can offer, we can ensure the pupils/learners are getting exactly what they need to from the experience with us and all desired learning outcomes are met and evidenced as required.

SSG offer too school based trips programmes:

•             Active Adventure Activity Day

•             Wild Survival Activity Day

The Active Adventure Activity Day is based on team building and problem solving challenges and operates a fun competitive framework with groups working independently to get more ‘team points’ than the other teams taking part. The activities for this day are selected by the school, in consultation with us, based on what they would like to include and what they wish the outcomes of the day to be. We offer a wide range of different activities, including headliners such as our mobile climbing wall, archery and inflatable obstacle course.  This is a truly amazing experience and with our scaffold rigs, flags, bunting and other staging we transform a school field and/or playground into a spectacular event experience.

The Wild Survival Activity Day is based around bushcraft and survival skills, through fun and engaging workshop sessions that will promote working effectively in a team, appreciation of the natural environment and how important it is to operate effectively as a team to survive in an outdoor environment we offer an experience on your school site unlike any other.  We will work with the school to stage the day in the best possible way and utilize any natural woodland and outdoor space they have, although this is not essential, as the Wild Survival Activity Day can be delivered just as effectively in the most urban of settings.

Our activity days follow a flexible framework to suit a school needs and can be adjusted to suit varying participant numbers, age groups and learning outcomes.

Through our exciting mobile equipment and excellent staging, we transform everyday school spaces into engaging and exciting learning/participating areas.

While we find these two programmes to be highly popular SSG are willing to develop bespoke programmes for schools where they need them.
