Greenhead Hostel is a converted Methodist Chapel in the village of Greenhead on Hadrian's Wall. It is ideal for those walking the Pennine Way as well as the Hadrian's Pathway National trail and in a great location for those exploring the nearby Roman heritage sites at Birdoswald Fort , Vindolanda and Houseteads.

The chapel was built in 1866 to serve the village miners and held its last service in 1972.

The hostel dormitories can be booked as family rooms, by groups or as individual beds. The hostel can also be booked for sole use by schools and large groups.

All meals can be taken in the hotel including packed lunches for your journey the following day. For large group bookings package deals are available including all meals.

What group sizes do you cater for?

At the hostel we have up to 40 beds on two floors, a female floor and a male floor. There is also a flat which has three bedroom flat so that is a total of 45 people in total.

Each floor has 20 beds there is 1x 8 person dorm and 2 x 6 person dorm with a mixture of bunk and single beds. There is a large TV in the public area however there is no air conditioning. But as it is a an old build it is very light and airy.

What is the cost of the accommodation?

The cost of the accommodation is £450 per night for full use, however there are special deals for other sizes of groups please phone to discuss. The hostel is closed during the winter however it is available for full use bookings.

What is your process for booking pre arranged risk assessments?

In the hostel there are risk assessments on all areas which can be emailed prior to booking. There are also risk assessments notices on the notice board in the hostel. There are weekly fire checks and drills.

There are first Aid boxes in the hostel and parties will need to an appointed first aider

There are dining areas and a snack machine. Meals can be provided (2 meals is £22.50 and includes a pack lunch). There are facilities to eat pack lunches and a common area. There are plans to have internet access.

What are your opening days and hours?

Booking is available every day from 9am to 11pm at night. The hostel is closed in the winter but is available for full bookings.
