Tyle Morgrug cottage and bunkhouse is close to Aberdare in the heart of the Welsh Valleys in South Wales. It is a great base for exploring the fantastic countryside.

Aberdare is 4 miles (6 km) south-west of Merthyr Tydfil, 20 miles (32 km) north-west of Cardiff and 22 miles (35 km) east-north-east of Swansea.

The buildings have been adapted, furnished and equipped to Visit Wales 3-Star standard, so they're suitable for groups of all ages. We are perfectly placed for a wide range of outdoor pursuits, with walking, mountain biking, road cycling, climbing, canoeing, caving and gorge scrambling right on the doorstep.

We offer sole occupancy of the accommodation during their stay.

The accommodation sleeps up to 29 people.

The cottage has bedrooms for 1, 4 and 8 people, plus there is a separate (linked) bunk house accommodation for 16 people.

Tyle Morgrug has a well-equipped kitchen, a sitting room with wood burning stove and adjacent Leaders' Room (for youth groups). There are four showers, toilets and sinks, a drying room and a separate dining area.

The cottage / bunkhouse is centrally-heated and double-glazed throughout, with hot water at all showers and sinks. The large dormitory and bedrooms have bunk beds and a single bed. The commercially-equipped kitchen features a gas cooker, refrigerator, freezer, kettles, toasters, microwaves and a full range of cooking and eating utensils.

An added bonus is the secure bike and storage area, with washing facilities to clean your muddy kit after a day in the hills.

What is the cost of the accommodation?

Current charges per person per night - 1st January 2016 to 31st December 2016

The cottage and bunkhouse offers sole occupancy to groups.

Youth groups including their leaders £9 per person per night reduced to £7.50 per person per night for groups from the Cynon valley and the Chichester and Arun districts of West Sussex.

A minimum charge of £75 per night applies to youth groups.

Adult groups £15 per person per night.

A minimum charge of £120 per night applies to adult groups.

A non-returnable booking fee of £75 is required with each booking which will be deducted from the final charge or retained if the booking is cancelled other than by the Trust.

The Trust reserve the right to charge an additional fee of £75 in the event of a group booking the cottage and bunkhouse and not turning up without advising the booking secretary at least 4 weeks in advance.

Booking will only be confirmed when both booking form and deposit have been received.

What is your process for booking pre arranged risk assessments?

We don't provide risk assessments for teachers, but teachers / individuals are welcome to arrange a visit to the site to look around.  Alternatively they can use the 360 view here: http://www.cyat.org/360view/) .  The accommodation has a fire alarm system which is regularly checked and maintained to the appropriate standards.  As necessary we are happy to provide copies of the latest certificates.

Unfortunately there is no internet access at the cottage/bunkhouse.

The accommodation is ran and maintained by the Chichester Youth Adventure Trust -

Registered Charity Number 288717.  It is available to adults and youth groups from anywhere in the country. We’ve had schools and youth groups, Scouts, Guides and private parties of walkers, bikers and outdoor enthusiasts come and stay with us.
