Description

Scarborough Youth Hostel, once a 17th century water mill, is set on a quiet riverside, just 1½ miles north of the town centre and only 15 minutes walk from Scalby Mills and the North Bay beach.

The location of Scarborough Youth Hostel makes it a perfect base for field studies in geography, ecology, geology and environmental studies.  Interesting locations for field studies are both abundant and varied in this part of North Yorkshire.  Scalby Mills, Jacksons Bay and Filey Brigg on the east coast are ideal sites for the study of rocky shore ecosystems, geology and coastal management.

Scarborough Youth Hostel works closely with a number of knowledgeable, experienced and well qualified professionals who are able to provide a wide range of fieldstudy courses which are offered as programmes or individually tailored to the specific requirements.

We are also an ideal location for primary residential visits and we are happy to work with teachers and schools to put together interesting programmes for two, three, four days or a whole week.  Programmes can include fossil hunting; rock pooling; castle visit; beach art; beach olympics; coasteering; surfing; Go Ape; mountain biking;

Dear Rob and Elise

Thank you very much for having us to stay at your hostel last week and for helping us to make our Year 3/4 residential a real success.

The girls loved staying with you (staff too!) We really appreciated having the whole hostel, it made such a difference and thank you for being so friendly and welcoming to us all. The food was delicious and really child friendly - the ice cream pudding on the Thursday night was a particular favourite!

We would love to stay with you again in the future if possible please - our j3/4 residentials run on a two year programme so it would be likely to be in 2018.

Thanks again very much, Best wishes, Jill
