St Leonard’s Farm Park is an award winning Farm situated in an idyllic rural location within the Leeds/Bradford conurbation, with animals, indoor play area and picnic & play areas. With over 20 years experience of managing school visits, we understand your needs with regards to safety, risk assessment and value for money. This understanding, along with the ever popular Farmer James, has created a demand for our trips which sees us book up well in advance with regular and new educational customers each year.

We are CEVAS accredited (Countryside Educational Visits Accreditation Scheme) and are member of FFS (Farms for Schools), FACE (Farming & Countryside Education) & NFAN (National Farm Attractions Network). Additionally, our popular Farm Holiday Club is OFTED registered.

Why is this venue great for School Trips and Educational Visits?

Farmer James has created a Spring/Summer educational visit programme which provides a balance of fun, education and hands on learning to give children a memorable experience.

Optional Extras such as Tractor & Trailer Rides, Indoor Fun Barn Play Sessions, Bags of Animals Feed, Ice Lollies and Goody Bags can be pre-ordered (extra cost and subject to availability).

What does a typical school trip or educational visit include?

All school visits are allocated a barn or classroom on arrival, each visit lasts from 2 hours to all day (during usual opening times). We offer 2 types of animal tours: the Baby Animal Tour is aimed at nursery, reception and year 1 children and includes stroking the animals.

Our Full Tour is aimed at KS2 children and above and is a guided walk around the Farm visiting different animals and habitats. We discuss a range of issues relating to animal husbandry and welfare and wider issues relating to British Farming.

What size groups do they cater for?

Minimum 15 children, maximum 150. We have a number of indoor and covered barns and classrooms which cater for school visits of various sizes. Our indoor Fun Barn play area can accommodate up to 175 people on the equipment and in the ample seating area.

What can they provide you with to support your school trip or educational visit?

We offer a downloadable Risk Assessment together with a FREE pre-visit for organisers to perform their own RA and recce the site (must be pre-booked). Once a definite booking is made documents are issued containing important information regarding your trip to us and a link to further trip information on our website. Animal tours are linked to the KS1 & KS2 curriculum and a follow-up work pack, overseen by an experienced teacher, are given to teachers on visit day FREE.

Can you take photos, video or audio? Are there any copyright restrictions?

Photography of your own group only is permissible without copyright restriction subject to the prior agreement of parents.

How do you arrange a risk assessment?

Our comprehensive RA is available from our website. Please contact the office Monday to Friday 9.30am-4.30pm to pre-book your pre-visit to perform your own RA and recce the site.

Is specific clothing required?

Clothing and footwear suitable for the season and prevailing weather/ground conditions should be worn.

Do you have first aid on site?

We have a First Aider on site during Farm opening times. Additionally, Farmer James is a paediatric First Aider. However, schools should also bring their own medical supplies along with them.

Are there disabled facilities?

The site is wheelchair accessible with disabled toilets. We are experienced with and welcome special needs groups and offer a ratio of 1:1 Adults FREE.
