We are a family run working farm, based in North Yorkshire we have over 70 years combined knowledge in the farming industry, and for the past 8 years have been touring the north of England with our Miniature mobile educational farm. We provide workshops that come into school with all the animals you would expect to find on both modern day and historical farms, along with a few more exotic animals depending on the time of year.

We are able to adapt a visit to suit your requirements, as we have no set structure to our visits and individually tailor each one.

We also offer the option to make food stuffs from the raw product we produce on farm and create a product that our students are familiar with in the grocery shop each week like Cheese, Bread, Burgers etc. We have been used as a great resource for school children of all ages covering a vast range of topics from where our food comes from, healthy eating, English literature , Habitats and many more.

Why you are great to support learning?

We come to you, saving having extra staff, classed as a normal school day, more parents can be invited in to school to get involved, no coaches to fund, one to one with the farmer, no packed lunches to bring in, full risk assessments and  insurance included

What does a typical school workshop visit include?

If there are various options, for instance for different key stages, or for different curriculum topics, then please write as many as you want to include. If you tailor each visit specifically to the needs of the group then please also mention this.

With each school visit we individually tailor the package so rarely are two packages the same.

We work closely with the teachers/organizers so you get the most from a visit.

As standard our animals include

Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Ducks, Hens, Lambs, Goats, Calf, Mini Pony, Mini Donkey, Mini Pony, Alpaca and Adult Micro Pig along with one of our fiberglass milking goats.

We provide a background into the farm so students can get a feel for the setting pre visit

We are also able to provide worksheets for all age groups.

Are you on Twitter, Facebook or any other social media?

What group sizes do you cater for?

We can cater for any number of children and work with you to provide the best package typically 40 per group works well.

Do you provide projects, teacher’s packs, work sheets or any other useful information?

We provide a farm portfolio, which is picture rich so the students get a good feel for the location pre visit

We provide generic worksheets as standard however we are happy to tailor the work sheets to each locations requirement.

Are you happy for children to take photos, video or audio if appropriate?

We have no restrictions on Photography or videos etc.

Are your team CRB checked for attending schools/colleges etc?

Does your company have an education officer?

As we area family run business we don’t have specific roles however 99% of the time if you contact the office you will speak with Becky

What is the cost?

Our full farm, full weekday visit costs just £350 + VAT + traveling

Is specific clothing required for when you visit?

Not really we usually recommend a waterproof coat as we are outside and its fun and makes it feel more of a school trip if children can were wellington boots but not essential.

Are your workshop team first aid trained?

One Member of staff is first aid trained

Where geographically will you visit?

We have no restricted days however we try to avoid visits on a Friday unless its more a fun visit rather than educational as we feel the children are starting to get ready for the weekend and don’t take in the key points we are brought in to show.

Do you have an LOTC Quality Badge?

We are CEVAS Qualified and have just undertaken the Care farming training which will be assessed in May.

Do you have any testimonials from previous schools we can include?

"Just to say a huge thank you for a fantastic visit from you last Tuesday to Rosehill. Parents and children were buzzing still the following day having had such a great experience." Rosehill school

"Thank you so much for the visit, it was brilliant. The kids have not stopped talking about it and the parents have mentioned how they have talked about it at home too. The feedback from other staff members and children in other year groups has been overwhelming positive too. It was everything we wanted and more! Thank you so much, I will definitely recommend you!" Becky Yarborough Academy.

"Dearest Becky - An email to say A MASSIVE THANK YOU for the most awesome afternoon with your gorgeous menagerie of animals.  All our children were just in awe of the Reindeer, not to mention noisy Jenny, the donkey!  We all enjoyed the most unique and wonderful afternoon - so many thanks for this." Tracy Dixon, Lower KS2 & Literacy Leader, East Ardsley Primary School.
