The highly accredited Ardwhallan Hostel can be solely booked as a bunkhouse on its own. Sole bookings for the 24 bed accomodation can be made year round. Located in the heart of the Island, Ardwhallan has a wide variety of outdoor pursuits on its doorstep including Mountain Biking, Hill Walking and many water based activities, both on the sea and on nearby Injebreck reservoir.

The Ardwhallan Hostel is the ideal venue for a variety of groups. These can include youth groups, private bookings, schools and the scouts. We offer special discount packages for local youth groups and schools, information about these packages can be found on the information pack that can be downloaded from the link at the bottom of this page.

maximum number we are able to accomodate is 28, additional camping is available .

We are located approximately three miles from the Islands capital, Douglas, From the Hospital roundabout head northwest towards Strang roundabout Go straight across the Strang roundabout onto Mount Rule Road After 1.7km turn right onto West Baldwin Road Follow this road for 4km until to reach the steep driveway to the centre on the left. If you reach Injebreck Reservoir you've gone too far by about 100m A map and directions are available on our web site.

why you are great for educational visits?

Schools can use Ardwhallan for bespoke programmes, including personal and social development, GCSE PE and alternative games sessions and creative learning in the outdoors to enhance the curriculum. We cater for both primary and secondary schools with activity and residential packages that are suitable for both. We are located in the centre of the Island, in stunning surroundings, and within thirty minutes drive from any of the Islands many attractions.

Is there anything you offer specifically for educational visits?

We operate as as outdoor education centre, we can accommodate large groups on bespoke outdoor courses, we also are an ideal base for D of E expeditions.

Can you provide information regarding room sizes and room facilities?

1 x 10 bed room , plus ensuite shower and toilet, 1 x 8 bed room, plus ensuite shower and toilet, 1 x 6 bed room,plue ensuite shower and toilet, 2 x 2 bed room, shared shower and toilet. All beds are single bunks.

Are visitors allowed to take photos, video or audio, if appropriate?

Yes , please do , it is part of the experience

We will supply risk assessments, fire certificates, insurance details, and other relevant documentation on request.

All staff are fully first aid trained , and full first aid kits are located at the hostel.

At present, our accommodation has no wheel chair access.

Ard whallan has been a registered charity since 1979, we are located in a beautiful rural part of the Isle of Man , with many historic sites within close proximity,a full range of outdoor activities, led by qualified instructors, can be prebooked through the centre, please refer to our website
