Brilliant Liverpool Tours provide qualified and insured educational tourist guides and designs complete itinerary for school and educational visits and holidays to Liverpool. The tours are designed to provide a detailed itinerary and support from the moment you start to plan your trip to Liverpool City Region.

Many groups will choose a walking based tour largely based in the city centre exploring the history and culture, music, entertainment, and perhaps learning about the slave trade.

We have many years experience matching school and university groups to accommodation and we can arrange transport from minibuses to larger coaches either to collect you from your school or to use in Liverpool during your stay.

We work carefully with chosen attractions including Museums, Galleries, Zoo’s & Safari Parks who can accommodate school groups and we will supply risk assessments and work sheets including before you arrive in the region in order to teach in school and prepare the class for their visit.

We do not confine our tours to Liverpool itself as it is a superb base to stay either during term time for an educational based study tour or during the summer holidays.

We regularly arrange tours to North Wales which is approximately 90 minutes drive – in fact all of our work in the North West of England is carefully planned around the individual needs of the school or group.

Tours for schools studying English Language are a huge part of our work too.

Why is this venue great for School Trips and Educational Visits?

Liverpool is a great place for educational visits for many reasons. It is a very modern and safe city and much of the area can easily be covered on a walking tour avoiding unnecessary road crossings.

We are unique as we are the only city with a National Museum which is entirely devoted to the city of Liverpool itself, rich in history, culture, sport, entertainment, art, music and much more.

We are a diverse cultural city with not one but two cathedrals one of which is the worlds fifth largest. Many of the attractions within the city have classroom facilities and we also regularly use outdoor venues such as Chester Zoo, Knowsley Safari Park, St Helens Glass, The National Waterways Museum and the Liverpool Watersports Centre to help with our tours.

We are able to arrange tours alongside visits to one of the three city centre universities and we have over 75000 students in Liverpool from all over the world.

Liverpool is a perfect destination to create tours around specific study areas and key stages.

Liverpool is unique for foreign students and many have heard of and are coming because of either the Beatles or Liverpool Football Club, most foreign students visit Liverpool as it’s a modern vibrant city which has changed dramatically since Liverpool Hosted European Capital of Culture 2008.

What does a typical school trip or educational visit include?

A typical educational visit includes either a coach tour and a walking tour coupled with at least one activity which we design in accordance with the study areas and depending on which Key Stage applies. The activity could be inside in a classroom or an outside activity depending on the group. We usually ask schools and universities to bring a picnic lunch.

Are you currently on Twitter or Facebook?

This venue has the following accreditation:

All of our Guides are qualified members of the Institute of Tourist Guiding and many are also members of the Guild of British Tourist Guides. Many hold the Blue Badge qualification which is at Level 5 and is recognized internationally as the highest and most trusted tourist guide qualification. All of our guides have Public Liability Insurance.

What size groups do they cater for?

We can cater from small groups to much larger groups and if necessary we will hire in more than one full size executive coach.

What can they provide you with to support your school trip or educational visit?

We provide teacher’s information packs and worksheets prior to the visit for the schools and colleges to do work and tasks before arriving in Liverpool and we provide addditonal work sheets, maps and other information on the day. Some of these work sheets have been designed for example by the Liverpool Cathedral or the Beatles Story, however, most packs are bespoke depending on the needs of the individual group. Many of our guides are retired teachers and have helped us develop a range of these packs for our tours.

Can you take photos, video or audio? Are there any copyright restrictions?

We are happy for groups to take and use photographs during their visit and we will advise any special circumstances when photography is not permitted for example the Liverpool Cathedral will not allow photographs to be taken of their choir.

How do you arrange a risk assessment?

We provide a combination of generic risk assessments and other risk assessments for our tours and activities if requested. All of our walking tours are already risk assessed and they mostly avoid unnecessary road crossings and uneven pavements.

What are the contact details for their education officer?

Neil McDonald 07545 111397

What does it cost?

A half day educational tour including all the worksheets and entrance to museums and gallerys usually costs from £12.50 per head and we do not charge for the teachers and classroom assistants.

We have a range of additional attractions which we regularly use for school groups for example the Radio City Tower tour which is an additional £5 per head or we can arrange a mini stadium tour at one of the two football grounds LFC or EFC for an additional £10 per person.

If we need to provide a coach for all or part of your tour then this would cost an additional £350.00 for the half day.

Is specific clothing required?

We would normally suggest shoes suitable for walking and a light waterproof coat.

Do you have first aid on site?

Not all of our guides are qualified first aiders but in our experience most school groups have a qualified first aider with them.

What facilities do they have for school trips and educational visits?

There are a range of souvenir shops and all the other shops associated with a busy city centre. We do not supervise children when they have been split up in to groups by the school to go shopping and we would not usually include shopping during our tour, although we may arrange time at leisure for the school to organize themselves for example at lunch time in the case of a full day tour.

We prefer groups to bring a packed lunch and there are lots of safe covered and indoor areas we use depending on the weather on the day itself.

Most children would need a maximum of £20 for their visit.

Are there disabled facilities?

All our tours use venues that have disabled facilities and disabled access.

What are your opening days and hours?

We are available for tours 365 days per year.
