Primary Arts Courses

The Conway Centre is a short term residential centre set within 169 acres of National Trust
parkland on the island of Anglesey, North Wales. We have excellent facilities for deliver-ing the Performing and Visual Arts. Specifi-cally, we have two large performance spaces
and a dedicated drama studio. In addition, wehave a further three large work spaces used
for drama workshops and several art studios used for design..

The Course

Primary Arts courses are three day visual and per-forming arts course aimed at years 4, 5 & 6. The work will allow pupils to explore a theme, agreed on with the school staff, within the framework of per-sonal and social development and cross- curricular approaches. The cost of these courses are be-tween £106 and £120 depending on the time of
year

The Aims

To introduce a wide range of performingand visual arts techniques which differ from those introduced at school

To encourage students to mix with chil-dren and teachers from other schools

To allow students to work imaginatively and creatively in collaborative contexts,
generating, developing and communicat-ing ideas

To develop confidence

The Programme

The children will participate in one session of Dance, Visual Art and Drama. All day time sessions
will be led by Centre staff and visiting artists, and evening sessions will be the responsibility of theschool staff. However, the centre staff can recom-mend activities for the evenings and provide visiting teachers with resources. Equally teachers can pro-vide their own activities
