 ISU Junior Grand Prix – John Curry Memorial Competition 2008

The National Ice Skating Association of the UK Ltd (NISA) is pleased to announce that the second John Curry Memorial Competition – ISU Junior Grand Prix will be taking place in Sheffield from 15th to 18th October 2008.

Created in 1997, the Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series comprises 8 international junior figure skating qualifying events and the final.  The John Curry Memorial Competition will see more than 140 of the world’s leading junior figure skaters, from over 60 countries, aged from 13 years, compete in all ISU disciplines (singles, pairs and dance) for a place at the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in Korea.

As part of the 2008/09 season, the International Skating Union (ISU) has allocated qualifying events as follows:

8 - 12 Oct ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Cape Town, South Africa
15 - 18 Oct ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Sheffield, Great Britain
10 – 14 Dec ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating FinalCombined Junior and Senior Seoul, Republic of Korea

Named after the late John Curry who is acknowledged world wide for transforming ice figure skating as an Olympic sport into an art form, the Sheffield competition is the last qualifier in the series before the final and will be taking place at iceSheffield, NISA’s national ice centre for figure skating. 

Tickets for the event are now on sale at www.iceskating.org.uk/juniorgrandprix/tickets.
As Wednesday 15th is the official practice day, entry will be free of charge.  Tickets for the competition days, Thursday 16th - Saturday 18th October, are as follows:
£5 – Child 
£10 – Adult
