School Trip & Group Educational Information

Introduction for school trips and educational visits

Harrow House in Swanage enjoys splendid views of the surrounding Purbeck Hills, the sea and the Isle of Wight. The centre offers a wide range of land-based activities including abseiling, beach studies, nature trails, climbing, fencing, orienteering and rocket launch. With accommodation in heated multi-bedded dormitories, this centre has been designed to provide children with the ultimate sports, activity and adventure experience.

Why is this venue great for School Trips and Educational Visits?

Harrow House offers young people the unique experience of a range of land-based activities, challenging them to learn new skills. We provide one multi-trained instructor per activity group for the entire duration of your stay - this enables the instructor to understand the strengths, personalities and limitations of each individual; allowing them to reach their full potential through trust, encouragement and development.

Our bespoke courses promote personal, social and health education by promoting teamwork, facing new challenges, overcoming fears, encouraging discipline and developing effective communication skills. We are happy to tailor each visit to meet the group needs and requirements.

The minimum group size for any JCA visit is 8 children and 1 adult, numbers are not restricted. Harrow House accommodates up to 350 children and 50 adults per night in 2 – 8 bedded dormitories. We welcome preview visits from Party Leaders, Governors, EVC’s and LA Advisors and fully appreciate that a visit gives you the opportunity to carry out your risk assessments, inspect the facilities and get to know your way around the centre. We recommend that you visit during our operational period in order to meet the team and see the children participating in the activities.

What are the contact details for their education officer?

We do not have a dedicated education officer, but all of our staff are trained and experienced.

What does it cost?

Prices start at £172 (+VAT) for a 4 night stay at Harrow House or £84 (+VAT) for a weekend (including a full activity programme). Contact us for the latest special offers. We offer a 25% discount to all children receiving free school meals - subject to terms, conditions and availability.
