A safe, stimulating, child friendly environment with lots to do and find out including games to play on the days of the stagecoach and dressing up as characters from local history. Many curriculum areas are covered from Literacy to history and Geography to PHSE. Why is this venue great for School Trips and Educational Visits? As the only museum covering the history of the Post in the country, we are in a unique position to support pupil’s historical understanding of local, national and international history. What does a typical school trip or educational visit include? Bath Postal Museum is great for KS1 as it links to the NC Programme of Study ‘People who Help us’ and can really encourage emergent writers. A typical visit could include games, stories, dressing up and a visit to a real post office. Bath Postal Museum is also great for KS2 as some of our permanent displays focus on Victorians and their jobs. It also supports history learning and a typical day can include an object handling session, quill writing experience plus dressing up, games and a trail. Local history is important in KS3 and Bath Postal Museum focuses on the lives of great Bathonians who helped shape Bath into the city it is today. With first hand evidence and handling activities a day at the museum would really support pupils learning and understanding. What size groups do they cater for? Maximum size group is 25.
