Introduction for school trips and educational visits

Exhibiting over 100 years of fascinating social history and popular culture Yesterdays World will transport you back in time on a thrilling journey of discovery. Home to over 100,000 genuine historical artefacts dating from the reign of Queen Victoria to the 1960’s, the past is magically recaptured and brought to life in a vivid recreation of yesteryear.

Why is this venue great for School Trips and Educational Visits?

Located on Great Yarmouth’s famous Golden Mile seafront this truly remarkable time capsule evokes the look, feel and taste of days gone by and offers a unique day out that everyone will enjoy. With entertaining sound and light shows interactive exhibits, evocative audio visual displays and incredible attention to detail a trip to Yesterdays World will be one that you will never forget.

The main building is on two floors of a 150 year old “Barrons Paradium”. It has
Displays and exhibits throughout. There are 7 rooms on the first floor, where you can marvel at the splendour of the Crown Jewels, leading onto Queen Victoria’s throne room, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein’s monster, Robert Louie Stevenson’s Jekyll and Hyde and HG Wells’ Time Machine. On the Village Green we have The Carpenters workshop, the Wheelwright’s and the turn of the century Chemist complete with potions to suit all ailments. Browse at the large selection of agricultural tools and trade bicycles.

Take a magical fairground ride on our beautiful 19th century carousel, poke fun at yourself in the Hall of Mirrors and meet life like figures from history including Queen Victoria and Winston Churchill!

What does a typical school trip or educational visit include?

You will be greeted by a member of staff who will give you a briefing before you start your tour round the museum. We do not provide guided tours, however, our staff are always on hand to answer any questions you may have. We will look after your bags while you go round the museum. If you require any further assistance, we will be happy to help.

Up to 60 but rotated in groups of 20, 1 adult needed per 10 children.

Qualified First Aiders are on site at all times.
