Blackton Grange is a traditional stone built farmhouse enjoying fabulous views over the picturesque Teesdale Valley. Located at the head of a tranquil tributary valley, it nestles deep in the heart of a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, known to many as ‘England’s last wilderness.’ The peace, tranquility & isolation make the venue perfect for running any type of learning and development programme, conference or meeting. Groups who stay at Blackton Grange depart refreshed, refocused and re-energised, with a far greater knowledge and understanding of their respective subject matter than when they arrived. Teesdale is home to some of the country’s best walking and an absolute abundance of bird life. Our stunning location enables you to deliver educational visits amongst some of the most spectacular scenery in the land. We have experienced staff on hand to help and advise you in providing all types of events to link with the objectives you need to achieve. If you want it to be different and memorable, come and talk to us. Energetic groups can explore the stunning surroundings either on foot or by taking out one of the many mountain bikes we have on site. Can they work together effectively enough to complete the mountain bike challenge? People craving a little more activity can spend time kayaking, climbing, orienteering, abseiling or gorge walking. What better way of building a thirst and working up an appetite for a memorable Blackton Grange BBQ? All of our food is home prepared & cooked with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. No surprise that our cook never fails to receive a mention in post event feedback. We can also run the very popular ‘Team Cuisine’ experience where your guests manage the catering as part of their stay. They’ll learn a lot about each other when they have to fend for themselves, something you might want to incorporate into a visit. Sometimes it’s important to stay in touch with those at home so we have unlimited WiFi for you to use if the need arises. We also have separate meeting rooms for teaching or group work. What size groups do they cater for? We can sleep 45 people at the venue across 10 bedrooms. We also have a spacious camping field with outside washrooms if you need more space. The weather in the North Pennines can be unpredictable at times so visitors should be advised to bring plenty of layers, sensible outdoor shoes and waterproofs. Do you have first aid on site? There is usually a first aider on site during the day. Visit leaders are also provided with full details of emergency procedures in the event of an accident. What facilities do they have for school trips and educational visits? Blackton Grange is a remote location with the nearest shop around 6 miles away. Are there disabled facilities? We have ground floor rooms and a disabled washroom with shower and wc. There are 4 steps to negotiate in order to reach the lounge or dining room so a ‘buddy system’ is encouraged for wheelchair visitors or those with extreme mobility difficulty. Additional Information: Blackton Grange is located in the AONB of the North Pennines, easily accessible from the A1 (Scotch Corner is 35 minutes away), A66 and M6.
