Netherurd House is the National Activity & Training Centre for Girl guiding Scotland.

We offer accommodation in the Garden House for up to 60. This is in a new, state of the art, purpose built, self catering facility with comfortable new adult accommodation and en-suites. The children’s accommodation is bunk rooms which sleep 6, also with en-suites.

The main hall can accommodate up to 150 and the Garden House has two comfortable quiet lounges, both with DVD facilities which seats up to 15, one in each wing.

Our accommodation also includes 2 high dependency suites for groups with special needs. The Centre is AALA licensed and offers a wide variety of adventurous activities from kayaking to Zip wires and a dedicated experienced team to cater for all your needs.   Our catering team can semi cater for residential or day visits.

In addition, we offer comfortable campsites which are fully equipped with large indoor halls and shower facilities.  These also include facilities for groups with disabilities.

Staff are on hand to assist or help you with your programme at all times.

No.

How do you arrange a risk assessment?

As we hold an “AALA” licence (Adventurous Activity Licensing Authority) this means that all our activities on site are risk assessed and safe.  All our accommodation is risk assessed which we will be happy to forward to you. We do encourage organisers to visit, in advance, to discuss risk assessments and safety policies to ensure all standards and requirements are met.

What are the contact details for their education officer?

Please contact number above.

What does it cost?

Our costs are split into accommodation and activities and depend on your programme and needs. We often tailor make your stay to your own needs.

Is specific clothing required?

All activity safety equipment is supplied.

Do you have first aid on site?

Our highly qualified instructors are qualified first aiders, however, when not on activity the first aid responsibility would be with the school to meet their own local authority needs.

What facilities do they have for school trips and educational visits?

Please visit our website to look at our range of accommodation which is detailed with photographs.

We have a gift shop on site for souvenirs, gifts, sweets and drinks.

Are there disabled facilities?

Our disabled facilities come highly recommended with 2 high dependency suites with showering benches etc, in our purpose built Garden House.  This also hosts adjustable high kitchen units, wide corridors, brail room signs. More details can be found on our website.

We have many groups with high dependencies who visit every year and find the Garden house a pleasure to use with its ease of access and space.

Most of our activities can be used with the support of our experienced instructors. Our Zip line has a special chair to allow wheelchair users full use allowing full inclusion.

We would recommend that any disability needs are discussed in advance so we can ensure a successful and fun visit for all.
