The Croft is a beautiful, fully flexible venue just over an hour from Edinburgh or Glasgow. The Croft is ideal if you want to design your own residential programme and keep costs down. So give us a call. We’ll do our very best to help you. Why is this venue great for School Trips and Educational Visits? Why come to Comrie Croft? Teachers have told us it’s because of the… • Superb LOCATION. Distinctly Highland, but only an hour from Glasgow or Edinburgh. A large number of activities and places of interest onsite or very close by. At the geographic centre of Scotland, so ideal for touring. • Beautiful rural SITE without close neighbours. The Croft is set in a high quality farm conversion with lots of safe space. Many bedrooms are en-suite. • Offering a FLEXIBLE and FRIENDLY personal touch. Talk to us about your needs and we’ll do our best to help. The Croft is primarily an inexpensive self-catering venue allowing you to do your own thing. Together with partners we can help you organise an instructor-led outdoor adventure programme, catering, or just about anything. • Range and quality of FACILITIES. Accommodation is in two converted stone farm buildings (tourist board rated as a 4 star hostel) or eco-camping in the woodland; A purpose built conference room is suitable for meetings, study sessions, movies, etc; there is a games room, games barn and playing field, orienteering course, mountain bike trails and hire, nature trail, highland games kit; and more… What does a typical school trip or educational visit include? Variety and accessibility are the key words for residentials at Comrie Croft. Previously school groups have done… John Muir Award conservation work, biology fieldwork, geography fieldwork, study skill residentials, team building (including raft-building, rock climbing, abseiling, mountain-biking, crate-climbs…), sports team tours, and music band or choir practice… A selection of recommended places to visit: • The Famous Grouse Experience. See and smell how Scotland’s biggest export is made. (5 minutes away) • Loch Lomond National Park (10 minutes away). Ranger led activities can be arranged. • Scone Palace, the crowning place of Scottish Kings. (35 minutes away) • Stanley Mills, a new hi-tech interactive visitor experience at the spectacular 18th-century water mill complex beside the River Tay. (35 minutes away) • The Crannog Centre, a hands on experience based on the recreation of a ‘floating’ stone age loch dwelling. (45 minutes away) What size groups do they cater for? Comrie Croft sleeps up to 72, plus camping. The two self-contained buildings are best suited to exclusive use groups around 30-56 people and 10-14 people. What can they provide you with to support your school trip or educational visit? We have a vast knowledge of the local area that we want to pass on to you. Our website has some information. Currently we don’t have teacher’s packs or work sheets, but we’d really like to develop some, so let us know what you are interested in and we’ll work on it. Can you take photos, video or audio? Are there any copy write restrictions? We are very happy for any photos, video or audio to be taken. How do you arrange a risk assessment? We can email a general risk assessment. If you are able to visit and undertake any specific risk assessments you would like to do beforehand you are very welcome. What does it cost? Self-catering accommodation from £8.57pp per night assuming full occupancy. Do you have first aid on site? Groups should provide their own first aider, if required.
