Rope Race has a huge range of challenging indoor climbing walls suitable for all abilities, a fully equipped indoor archery range and is ideally located for canoeing, kayaking & raft building activities. We are AALA licensed enabling us to run outdoor activities either at the Rope Race or a pre arranged venue. Why is this venue great for School Trips and Educational Visits? Rope Race caters for a variety of school and youth groups of all ages, from a one off fun taster session to the GCSE & Duke of Edinburgh syllabus. New for 2008 is the new NICAS award, Climbing Wall Award & BCU paddle sport qualifications, which can be used throughout the curriculum. We also have the very popular mobile climbing wall which can be used as an introduction to climbing or as a fantastic fund raising activity. What does a typical school trip or educational visit include? There are many areas of the National curriculum that can be covered through the activities at Rope Race; these include PHSE, Citizenship, Geography, History, Science, PE and Math. We can also accredit your days with nationally recognised awards such as Duke of Edinburgh’s, ASDAN awards, National Indoor Climbing Awards and British Canoe Union star awards just to mention a few. What size groups do they cater for? Group sizes can be catered for from 1-100 plus and sessions can run for just a one hour activity or for a whole day of fun packed activities. What can they provide you with to support your school trip or educational visit? Each visit is catered for individually by the Educational Officer who oversees each detail of the program, from booking and kit lists to arrival and departures. Rope Race is very proud of its provision of a full service whether it is a simple instructed session in team building or a fully developed course with teaching materials and aids such as the popular climbing G.C.S.E and British Canoe Union level one and two passports. The Centre brochure and information on all the programs run by Rope Race and sample certificates/ badges can be sent to you upon request, along with risk assessments, booking forms and copies of our insurance. Can you take photos, video or audio? Are there any copy write restrictions? We are happy for school children to take photos and video footage of their visit to Rope Race, there are no copy right restrictions. How do you arrange a risk assessment? When a school or youth group makes a booking a full information pack is sent with risk assessment, insurance, ALAA license & kit list, we are also happy for schools to come for an arranged site visit if required. Prices vary from single sessions at £10p/h to £30 p/h for multi activity full days. Full quotes are best ascertained upon booking when full details of your event and students needs can be ascertained. Teachers and supervising adults always come for free. Is specific clothing required? Yes - all equipment is provided however a full change of clothes and footwear is often required when water activities are involved in the program. Full kit lists for your event are provided during the booking process. Do you have first aid on site? A, 1st aider will be on site. What facilities do they have for school trips and educational visits? Rope Race also has an outdoor clothing and equipment store and is well known by locals for selling the best flapjack ever in there popular café ‘The Fat Badger’. School groups are welcome to use our café to eat their pack lunches during their trip to Rope Race and may want some extra pocket money for use in our café facilities and vending machines.
