Perhaps one of York's best kept secrets is this fascinating Museum situated in York's tallest and most impressive Medieval Gatehouse - Monk Bar. It is said King Richard added its top storey himself in 1484.
   
Your stay or visit in historic York would not be complete without visiting this delightful and charming Museum, Which is part of the original city walls.

We have Limited Disabled Facilities (we're in a Medieval Gatehouse- 3 floors) other than for hearing/sight impaired.

We are open all the year round 7 days per week (except Xmas Day/Boxing Day).
