Beaulieu Development Centre

Beaulieu Development Centre, a day centre run by Hampshire County Council, is set in beautiful New Forest woodland and offers a full range of courses to schools, colleges and business customers in team building, personal development, leadership skills, high ropes courses, low ropes courses, management training, executive coaching, outdoor activities and corporate entertainment. We are an organisation with a reputation for excellence and professionalism in developing people and effective teams within business and education. We have a wealth of experience in the delivery of individually designed programmes that add value to a wide variety of organisations. We particularly excel in the quality of our facilitation, giving positive, transferable learning for our groups.

Our staff work in partnership with you to design programmes to achieve successful outcomes. Participants are engaged in real tasks. This experiential learning acts as a vehicle for individual and team process analysis. The learning is transferred to  school or workplace situations and towards individual development actions.

We offer programmes for groups from year 5 upwards that can:

• Encourage co-operation
• Enhance self-confidence
• Increase self awareness
• Teach new skills
• Develop emotional literacy
• Provide enjoyment
• Promote individual fulfilment
• Establish safe practice

We use problem-solving situations that involve all the young people in the group. We develop interpersonal skills such as:

• Listening
• Improved communication
• Co-operation
• Meeting new challenges
• Building emotional self esteem
• Structured planning
• Awareness of the team, the task and the individual
• Recognising strengths
• Valuing differences
• Respect for other’s ideas and opinions
• How to learn safely from mistakes
• Celebrating success.

Programmes are individually designed to meet the needs of your group and we welcome the opportunity to plan it with you. These may include leadership skills, prefect training, national curriculum and issues such as bullying or social inclusion.

High priority is placed on safety, sensitivity, and confidentiality - everyone must be and feel physically and psychologically safe.

Our experienced facilitators are trained to work with young people from all walks of life. We encourage everyone to reach their potential while experiencing the activities at a personally acceptable level.

The outdoor activities are used to develop methods of working in a supportive environment. We offer challenge by choice. Young people learn important skills that can be applied to other areas of school and personal life.

We actively support the Trailblazers initiative.

We do not have accomodation but we can recommend appropriate local residential facilities.

Plus we have fun!

Specific clothing specified for some activities, but most (safety helmets) are supplied by the centre. Please discuss with centre staff as part of course planning
