Ash End House Farm is a family owned farm which has been operating as a Childrens Farm for over 25 years. Our aim is to provide an enjoyable and educational hands on experience for children of all ages. We are open to the general public and specialize in guided tours for school parties and play groups.

School Trip Information

CEVAS Accredited Ash End House Children´s farm has recently been awarded accreditation under the Countryside Educational Visits Accreditation Scheme (CEVAS), acknowledging it´s suitability for school visits. School´s can visit the farm confident that the children are in a safe environment and our experienced staff will ensure the children have an enjoyable and enducational visit. New for 2007 is our new Farm Education Building where school groups are invited to participate in interactive educational games relevant to their Key Stage.

Before Your Visit teachers are invited to pre-visit the farm free of charge (please bring a school letter head). A pre-visit would be most advantageous to teachers wishing to maximize the educational potential of their visit by preparing work sheets relevant to their children´s Key Stage in Life processes and Living Things. The visit may also be used as a stimulus to other subjects such as the history of farming or comparing adaptations of breeds from different geographical locations.

One All Inclusive Price for schools gives you a tour guide for around thirty pupils plus accompanying adults, to take you on approximately a one and a half hour tour of the farm. See our Guided Tours page to find the tour that best meets your groups needs. A picnic barn is reserved for half an hour for your party to have lunch and heated by a wood burning stove during winter visits. During our low season periods we can also offer a wool spinning demonstration at no extra charge.

After The Tour the children are welcome to go around the farm again in small groups accompanied by a teacher/adult. This allows the children more time for closer contact and observation of the animals and for completing any of the school´s own work sheets (a low season booking would be best for this and it´s cheaper!).

*  Top Tip For Teachers - in wet weather, although most paths are concreted, teachers should be aware that long, long trousers over wellington boots get very wet and muddy - so please tuck them in or turn them up!

*  We have a toilet block adjacent to the entrance of the farm and a handwash station close to goats and sheep.

*  The farm shop sell's pocket money priced items with a farm theme, and a small cafe.

*  Food can be pre-ordered from the cafe but most schools bring a packed lunch which they eat in allocated picnic barn.

Booking Is Easy, just phone 0121 329 3240 and we will advise you immediately if your preferred dates are available. You will be asked to make a £50.00 non- refundable deposit to secure your tour guide booking. This deposit will be deducted off your total bill which is to be paid on the day of your visit. Please book early to avoid disappointment. It will also help if you can advise us at time of booking of any special topics you are interested in or if a wool spinning demonstration is required.
