Anderton Boat Lift


We are a heritage attraction based In NorthWich, Cheshire. The Anderton Boat Lift was first built in 1875 but was shut down in 1963 due to dis-repair. The lift was restored and re-opened In 2002 by Prince Charles with the addition of a new Operations Centre which now houses an Interactive exhibition, gift shop and cafe. The attraction has fully accessible landscaped grounds and also offers visitors the opportunity to experience "The cathedral of the Canals" for themselves by taking a trip through the Anderton Boat Lift on our own Glass topped trip boat. They can also take a pleasurable cruise along the River Weaver.


*  Group sizes admitted: trip boat can hold a maximum of 56 people

*  Age ranges: 5/6 to 10/11 (depending upon activities they wish to conduct)

*  Costs:

  • River Trip: £2.75 per child  Lift Trip: £3.75 per child
    Every party must bring a ratio of 1:8 (adult: children) ; All these places are free of charge Additional adult prices;
    River Trip: £3.75 per adult  Lift Trip; £5.25 per adult
    (All these prices are discounted group rates)

* The attraction has numerous first aiders on site 
 
We have a gift shop and cafe on site. Cafe Is on a first come first served basis and can seat 56. We ask those who bring their own food to use the outside picnic areas of whIch there are numerous throughout the grounds.
