School Trip & Group Educational Information

Introduction for school trips and educational visits

Denton House is a purpose built hostel and outdoor centre in the heart of the Lake District.

The hostel is designed for group use so has plenty of hot water for showers, central heating throughout and a commercial kitchen, a large dining room and solid bunk beds!

We’re also an AALS Licensed and BCU Accredited centre for the provision of adventure activities. We have well qualified instructors available to provide advice as well as to run trips and help organise expeditions.

Location and Local Facilities: The centre is particularly suitable for those wanting to explore the great outdoors. We have storage for kayaks and bikes and there's access/egress to the River Greta just across the road. Keswick is an ideal base for exploring the dramatic valleys of Borrowdale, Newlands and Buttermere, or for venturing onto the higher fells; Denton House is a good start point for Skiddaw, Blencathra and the Borrowdale Fells.  The town has an abundance of Outdoor Clothing and gear shops to suit all pockets and requirements.

There are also plenty of attractions, cafes and gift shops to occupy time out. Trotters Farm is a favourite with kids, the Pencil Museum provides fascinating information on pencils and much more. The newly - refurbished Theatre by the Lake has some excellent plays and provides a venue for local and national bands.
