School Trip & Group Educational Information

Introduction for school trips and educational visits

To compliment your school/college visit to Cadbury World we offer educational talks every day during term time.  Many thousands of students attend our educational talks, with hundreds of schools returning each academic year.

Why is this venue great for School Trips and Educational Visits?

In 2007 Tutor2U and its’ platform magazine Latte compiled an on-line survey asking teachers to recommend destinations for educational visits.  Cadbury World was highly recommended, with many teachers stating that the visit was a unique combination of fun and education.

What does a typical school trip or educational visit include?

The education product is primarily aimed at Key Stage 3, 4, and 5, focusing on the Curriculum subjects of Business Studies, Design & Technology, Humanities, Leisure & Tourism, and ICT.  However, we do provide educational talks to Key Stage 1 and 2 teachers, with Aztecs, Victorians and Design & Technology being rather popular.

What size groups do they cater for?

Individual dedicated educational talks are arranged for school/college groups of 30 or more students (the Education Room seats 110).  However, specific Study Days are offered for smaller groups (see web site for curriculum subjects and dates).

What can they provide you with to support your school trip or educational visit?

Cadbury World employed educational consultants to compile downloadable workbooks aimed at KS 1,2,3, and 4.  In March 2008 Cadbury launched an on-line resource called ‘Skills Space.’  www.skillsspace.co.uk.   With a target audience of 14 – 19 year olds it professionally supports Business Studies and Design & Technology, being produced by Edcoms.   The dedicated Education Room seats 110 people.

Can you take photos, video or audio? Are there any copy write restrictions?

Photography and Videoing is permitted throughout Cadbury World with the exception of the ‘Packaging Plant.’

How do you arrange a risk assessment?

Cadbury World offers free teacher preview visits for 1 teacher and 1 guest.  The aforementioned is available on any of our open days and offers the teacher the opportunity to carry out their own risk assessment.  Furthermore, our legal department has produced a risk assessment document, which we will e-mail, fax or post on request.

What are the contact details for their education officer?

The team consists of Colin Pitt the Education Manager and Jodie Perry.  Colin’s direct line is 0121 451 4551 and Jodie on 0121 751 5431.

Or contact us by e-mail: Colin.pitt@csplc.com: Jodie.perry@csplc.com

What does it cost?

The cost of a combined talk and tour for 2008 is £7.50.  For every 10 students 1 teacher goes free.

Is specific clothing required?

No, whether school uniform or casual clothes are worn is at the discretion of the school.

Do you have first aid on site?

All security people and many of our front of house staff are first aiders, furthermore, we have a First Aid Room.

What facilities do they have for school trips and educational visits?

We have two gift shops, a restaurant, disabled toilets, baby changing rooms, ATM, and areas set aside for packed lunches.  Pocket money is decided by the school.

Are there disabled facilities?

Cadbury World complies fully to the DDA directive.  However, wheelchairs and pushchairs are not allowed into the packaging area.
