Introduction for school trips and educational visits
Shakespeare’s Globe is a replica of the theatre that Shakespeare wrote for at the height of his fame. Situated next to the River Thames, a visit to the Globe Exhibition & Tour will feature a visit to the largest permanent exhibition in the world about the playwright’s work exploring the costumes, props and music of the period; an entertaining Guided Tour covering the colourful history of the original Globe, the reconstruction and the performances that take place here; ending at the Globe Shop with a unique range of gifts.

The Globe is a unique place to visit and offers students the opportunity to get up close with the life of Shakespeare. In addition to the standard tour and exhibition visit, tailored packages including costume dressing, sword fighting and printing press demonstrations can be catered for.
What does a typical school trip or educational visit include?
Self-guided visit to Exhibition, with free audio guide (available in English, Spanish, French, German and Italian).
30-40 minute guided tour of the Globe Theatre.
Additional demonstration – costume dressing, sword fighting, printing press – on request (extra fees apply).

A downloadable activity book is available for primary schools.
Can you take photos, video or audio? Are there any copyright restrictions?
In the exhibition photos, video and audio permitted; during guided tours video and audio not permitted, photos will vary daily.
How do you arrange a risk assessment?
Risk assessment forms can be sent to teachers by email. Teachers can organise a pre-trip visits for this purpose; this will be charged at the time but deducted from the final cost of the trip.

1 free supervising adult with every 15 tickets.
Is specific clothing required?
No, but as the trip includes a tour of the Globe Theatre which is an open air theatre visitors are advised to dress appropriate for the prevailing weather conditions.

The Globe has a shop and coffee cart. There is no area for packed lunches.

What are your opening days and hours?
The Globe Exhibiton & Tour is open daily all year, except Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Tours run from 9.30am, but schedule varies at different times of year so please check before booking for exact timings.
